Great wildlife

Great place to see wildlife. Various trails offer excellent viewing and minimal people traffic. Not many know about this area

This is a perfect time to visit. Today we watched deer, wild turkey, alligators and an enormous assortment of bird life. The roads are good too. We also drove through the Dinner Island wildlife management area which is adjacent to " Oky" slough. If you want to see "old Florida" and lots of wildlife it's the place to go. If... More

On the day we visited, the area had been receiving a lot of rain. The day we were there was perfect, but the trails were muddy or wet with water. Even the roadways had areas with deep puddles that made me not want to venture too far in. We saw wading birds, but sadly no eagles. I imagine you'd need... More

Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest is an amazing place to visit in Florida. It is located in Hendry County which is just below and to the west of Lake Okeechobee. It is truly an example of "old Florida" with oak hammocks and wetland prairies. You have to visit the area when hunting season has finished. There are miles and miles of... More

It is a beautiful place to visit. It is actually one of the last quiet places in Florida. We haven't camped there yet, but it is on our list. We did notice Monsanto Has a large office near here.

Great camp, no one around, no electric, no water. Just you and earth the way it should be. Love this place. We will be back.

Just off Route 29, this park offers miles and miles of little used roads and paths that you can explore by truck, bicycle or foot. Many different wildlife area from swamp to Pine and Oak hammocks. Fishing and camping available. Some spots are very remote. We visit this park several time a year and highly recommend it.

Pack a picnic lunch and pack a fishing pole. Ride your bike on the deserted roads or ride in your car.Take a look through your camera and look out for the local critters. It's no amusement park, but it sure is amusing to park, sit ,watch and listen to Mother Nature at its finest!
