This facility has something called Destination Fridays every 1st Friday of the month. They pick a destination such as Jamaica, or Hawaii or Brazil, and decorate the place to make you think you are really there. Also there is food and dancing and a cultural performance all conducive to that particular destination. Participators are encouraged to dress in the native... More

Drove down to Sistrunk Blvd. & 27th Ave. to see Delevoe Park and the A-ARL&CC. Glad I did. As a white man born into a family whose religion was not tolerated by those in power and whose ancestors were killed or forced to flee their homelands in order to survive, I value the story of the struggle of the A-A... Really a nice library/museum. They had a really good exhibit about the struggles and accomplishments of African Americans in the US. Very heart rending and thought provoking. A must see if you are in the area.

This library is state of the art. Absolutely beautiful, clean, gated, and quiet. I've been here a number of times, but it's a bit of a hike - I live downtown Ft Lauderdale. Great library overall.

This library is not just for the African American culture, but for all people. An addition to the library, there is a museum that features local artists talent, and several auditoriums for hosting events, seminars, workshops and meetings. There's easy access to Broward Blvd, Sunrise Blvd and 31st Avenue.

From the beautiful multilevel atrium to the wonderfully painted circular room in the middle of the lobby, the building is quite impressive. I have attended some classes there in the past and it felt safe day and night. I love the community outreach. The desk security us always nice and the auditorium and meeting facilities are wonderful!
