I took my 12 year old grandson to see the Mound and visit the Museum. Unfortunately, the other 3 buildings had already closed but we received a pass to return another day when open (hours are very limited, check ahead online or call), The museum has very interesting Native American artifacts dating back several thousand years. Exhibits have lots of... More

Museum as well as a schoolhouse and small civil war exhibits. Nice place for kids to learn about the history of Florida culture and people. Some interactive thugs for kids to do like weaving, trying out a bow drill, etc. The people working here are wonderful and knowledgeable! Fun cold afternoon spent here.

Too many times we go out of town to see and visit museums, shops and other attractions that you can actually find in your own city or town. The Temple Mound and Museum is one of those. The history and items they show are interesting and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. It's just one small... More

All I thought we would see was an Indian mound, but was pleasantly surprised to find more than that. The schoolhouse museum was so interesting and the lady working answered all of our questions and had so much information to tell about it! Learning about the Native Americans in the area that built the mound was great and seeing the... More

The main attractions are the museums. The mound is here, but there is nothing to it. Too big to photograph, nothing to see on it. The 4 museums are great. The artifacts found at the mound are fascinating. The schoolhouse, post office, and civil war museum each have their own charm.

Well worth the visit. Hundreds of Native American artifacts from the area are house here. There is also an old post office, civil war memorabilia and an old school house. All very interesting with the highlight being the Indian artifacts and descriptions.

In the heart of the touristy attractions in Fort Walton Beach is this pleasant and interesting museum centered around an ancient Native American mound and related artifacts. Change of pace if you are vacationing or enjoy our Native culture.

We loved it but are ecogeeks who love rocks and history. Kind people, informative exhibits, and the schoolhouse was great. The docent there knew all about the schoolhouse and the area.

Very interesting! So many artifacts, terrific information! Hours of operation are later in day, so check first, before you leave! Don't think it's for young children?! Lots of reading.
