62 acres divided into various garden themes. Fun and interesting sculptures and structures are tucked around the gardens. An easy walk following the sidewalk around--had to dodge a few sprinklers but Fl. has been dry! Most plants were labelled which helped to identify the unusual ones. The children's garden is especially well done I think. We went early which is... More

I was very impressed with the gardens! The map was pretty easy to follow, and I spent a couple of hours strolling leisurely around. I really enjoyed the herb garden, which was quite educational, telling about the use of the herbs in their native countries. There were plenty of benches, gazebos and nice places to sit and enough shade from... More

Went here recently with my wife and she really enjoyed it. We had a nice picnic on the garden side. It was a bit hot so we only explored about half of the other side (the water gardens) before going home. Definitely will come back to see the rest! Overall it was pretty interesting and very well maintained. Apparently it's... More

The gardens themselves are amazing. Sometimes the children get bored. I also recommend to bring 3 dollars to get fish food so you can feed the cod. The Kanapaha gardens are spread out on a TON of land, so may spend about 1-3 hours here. Warning: Gets really hot during summer

This is a real botanical garden. It is all about variety. It is well managed and it presents a friendly type atmosphere. Instead of an up tight pristine perfectly manicured place where you dare not leave the trail, you can reach out and literally smell the roses. There are over two miles of paved trails, perfect for wheel chair guests.... More

Botanic Gardens usually come in two flavors -- those with an emphasis on botanic specimens, and those with an emphasis on landscape design. Kanapaha is the former. Winding pathways take you through a succession of collections, e.g. bamboo, conifers, etc. The collections were a little bit of a disappointment -- missing things you'd expect, given the area, like a fruit... What I like best about Kahapaha is that it has both gardens and water features, as well as a natural woodlands trails. Many of the trails are paved, so it is amenable to wheelchairs and strollers. Which flowers are in bloom depends on the season, but it is a nice outdoor experience even when not in prime blooming season. Some... More

Stopped on our way from cedar key to Vermont. Very excellent welcome. Did the one mile walk and enjoyed it all. Hoped the people who carved names in the beautiful bamboo also ignored the signs not to touch the nettles in the herb garden.

We must have gone in the wrong season because most of the plants were dead and looks like it was completely unkept. This was way too expensive for a family of 6 to look at Dead plants.

Nice place to visit in good weather. Varied plants including plants from other regions in the same area. We went during a plant show.
