Excellent Butterfly Exhibit

One of the best butterfly exhibits we have visited. Natural setting and a broad assortment of butterflies. Also went to an equally good exhibit on frogs from around the world.

It's free to visit this Florida Museum of Natural History. You can also buy a ticket to visit the Butterfly Rainforest inside. They have many intersting displays of our Florida natural history. They also have some special exhibitions from time to time.

My daughters are 38 and 36 and ever since they were little tykes we went to the Florida State Museum almost weekly... of course it has become a much more impressive attraction since it moved many years ago to its new location on the UF campus, but it remains an amazing facility.... now I take my grandchildren and always am... We didn't give ourselves nearly enough time to do the museum justice, especially with their intriguing traveling special on plants. So we turned around in less than a week and did another round. Still didn't see half of the exhibits so I'm sure we'll be back again soon. This University of Florida museum is a gem and not to be... More

The mammal fossil exhibit is amazing! If you or your kids think that the only prehistoric animals worth your time are dinosaurs, you will be surprised. Also don't miss the butterfly exhibit and the many interesting reconstructions of Florida ecosystems.

I always introduce this gem to our-of-town guests, and always hear great feedback! Many Florida residents outside of Gainesville don't know about this place, and that it serves as the collective repository for natural artifacts from the entire state. Amazing exhibits and collections, even for novices. The butterfly garden is so impressive, not just for kids and nature lovers -... More

It's really cool to have thousands of beautiful butterflies from all over the world flying all around you as you walk through the really nice rainforest. Even landing on you sometimes. Very friendly employees!

Adjacent to the Butterfly Rainforest and included in admission if you are visiting the butterflies. Has some amazing Megladon fossilized specimens as well as giant sloth skeletons. Nice Florida historical exhibits including Seminole tribe. Surprisingly thorough, well lit for ambiance of exhibits, and some traveling exhibits to keep it fresh. Very kid and interactive friendly.
