Unfortunately we got caught in a cold rain so had to cut our hike short. We did see plenty of gators but had to turn around before where others reported seeing the wild horses and bison. Nice level area for walking.

The park is open from 8 to sunset. The visitor center is from 9-4. I highly recommend the LA Chua Trail and Bolen Bluff Tail for wildlife viewing. Saw many horses, gators and birds. Very large park with lots of trails to walk on.

I went to Payne a prairie and I wasn't sure what to find after looking at some reviews and seeing gators and some trails. I arrived to the trail which was well kept and beautiful where everything was well marked. There are three trails but...More

While we did not see any wildlife, other than squirrels, this is still a nice place to spend the day hiking. There are trails of many different lengths so you can find one that suits your mood, abilities and/or time frame. The trails are well...More

I started going to the Prairie Trails last year, every trip we make is a new adventure. We always see something new and exciting! It is so enjoyable and new gets old.

It's better to go when it is a little cool because the alligators are pre-occupied with sunning themselves instead of looking for breakfast. There is a beautifully constructed trail with loads of natural wildlife and native plants and a little interpretive history. Enjoyed it very...More

I love walking through the oak hammocks. The moist smell of the earth fills the heavily treed forest. It's magical.

The trails in this park come from both north, south, and west sides, offering a variety of views and ecological niches. Many birders and nature enthusiasts visit it daily to view the wildlife, including wild horses and bison. Alligators are common and bobcats have been...More

It was a very nice place to visit. Better with a pair of binoculars so you can see the wild horses and Buffalo. The Visitor Center was closed at 4:00, it would have been time if the center was open.
