A visit here is like taking a step back in time to the authentic Florida -- the way it was in the 1930s-50s before tourism growth. We went because I enjoy visiting writer’s homes, but I never imagined I’d learn so much about the author, the times and Florida agriculture. This is an excellent site for all visitors, whether or... We've lived about 2 hours from the park for 16 years and unfortunately never drove over to visit it. What a lovely park and the tour of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings homestead was fascinating! Our guide who was a volunteer was extremely knowledgeable --and entertaining as he toured us through the old Florida 'cracker style' house MKR lived in a century... More

Our Book Club toured Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' home. Our tour guide (a retired veterinarian) was extremely informative on all phases of Rawlings home and her life. We loved the tour.

A small group of us came to the park to tour Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings house, to hear more about the author's life, and see where she lived and wrote while in the area. Park fee is $3/car load, and the $3/person for the tour was well worth it, as we walked onto the grounds and surveyed the buildings and grounds... More

It's a nice drive from The Villages. The tour is well done. The small house interesting. To make this a worthwhile trip you need to go down the toad a mile or so and eat at The Yearling Restaurant. Separate reviews here. Overall it's a pleasant day.

for just $3 you can look around the grounds and outbuildings on your own. Old cracker style house and antiques from around the 30's definitely takes you back to a different time. This site is a National Historic Landmark.

Great place for a history lesson! Tour guide was great. Informative and interesting. Having family that has been in Florida since the 1800's It was cool to see how they lived back in the day.

Park is certainly inexpensive--if you want the guided tour, $3/person. You can look around the grounds & outbuildings on your own, paid tour is for the house. This was a prominent Florida writer and I appreciated learning even more about her life here.

This excursion is best appreciated by someone who goes there deliberately and with specific expectations. I think that anyone can appreciate the beauty and orderliness of Rawlings' farm and house, especially on a nice day when it's not too hot & muggy, but doing a little casual research on this Pulitzer-prize winning novelist greatly enhance the experience, and reading one... We visited Marjorie Rawlings SP today, we have been wanting to see it for a while and finally got there. Went on the 11:00 tour, we had a great tour guide (Rodger). He was very informative about the house and Marjorie, and her books. I loved the house, old cracker house that she had added on to several times. It... More
