I didn't have a car in Miami. From Miami Beach, I used public transit to go down to this park on Key Biscayne. If you have a smartphone, download the Miami-Dade Transit App, it can save you a lot of hassle. There's a bus line that serves the Key and ends at the entrance to the state park. From there,... I cycled from Downtown Miami to this Park and it was so worth it. This is a small Park with picnic areas, safe swimming, a water side restaurant, great views and amazing wildlife. During my visit I saw a raccoon, various lizards and birds, and then, at the tip of Cape Florida by the lighthouse and opposite 'Stiltsville' (a collection... More

If you arrive by car, you will enter the park and then drive about a mile almost all the way to the southern tip of the island, where there is parking, inland picnic areas, a place to get food, a stretch of beach that is fairly well populated on weekends and has a lifeguard, and all sorts of things you... We wanted to visit a beach while in Miami, though we also wanted to see the lighthouse on the southern point of the park....so we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to do both things at the same time. We played in the surf with the dog for a bit, we met a few other folks/tourists and chatted with... More

Just loved the silhouette of the beautiful lighthouse. It's worth the effort to get up there too. The area is not good for wheelchairs, to sandy. There are paths to walk around the point. Lots of clean restrooms. Lots of sitting areas with grills.

the beach is great, clear water and very soft sand. The access to beach from the picnic sites is also very close. We didn't have enough time but if we can spend a day there, it will be so nice. We hiked the trails. It's pretty flat and easy to walk on. It's always good to see the native plants... More

The trails were very well-maintained. I felt comfortable bringing my two young boys hiking. It was a really enjoyable experience and I'd love to go back to the park. Cheers!

Aside from lying on the sand you can rent a bike, visit the lighthouse and have a great lunch at the cafe. If you are staying for a week in Miami spare a day to spend id at the park.

What a beautiful park! Fantastic beach to walk on. It is all natural, so you have to be prepared to walk over some washed up ocean grasses. There's no importing of sand as the Miami Beach area has to do. There are many entrances to the beach with picnic facilities and washrooms. At the lighthouse there is a wonderful restaurant....
