I had read about this part of the Lower Keys in assorted guide books I reviewed. I also read the best way to see it was via Boat tour... you have to get away from the Highway and the human occupied Keys. I read some...More

We went here to see key deer and heron and were disappointed. We did come in middle of day, but we did not see anything of interest. Also poor signage makes it difficult to tell where to park etc...

We stopped by early in the morning one day and went through the bird sanctuary which was very educational. Thanks!
