Whether you want to sunbath (strongly suggest bringing a chair as the hard corral beach is not easy to lay on or get up from), swim, snorkel, kayak, hike or sit in the sun and people watch - John Pennekamp provides one stop shopping for all this. Beautifully maintained park with vistas that beckon you to stay and stare awhile,... More

Kayaks for rent, diving, etc. One of the walking paths was closed when we were there, but we walked the nature trail and rented a tandem kayak. Worth the visit.

The movie at the visitor's center was very educational and entertaining. The aquarium and exhibits in the center were very interesting. Unfortunately the only way to see the park is to walk the trails. Seeing the park from a car is impossible, so we were limited by limited ability to walk distances.

Plenty to do for a full day. Go out on a boat, rent personal watercraft, look at the acquarium, or just sit on the beach.

Cost us $10 for the four of us to enter the park. The glass bottom boat was $24 each for 2.5 hours. The boat crew was VERY knowledgeable. Only problem was the winds and seas. They warned us that the seas were 3 to 5 feet. Not bad until we arrived at the reef. Many people could not stay down... More

Came here to spend the day. For a state park everything cost the same as outside the park. Nine dollars just for two to get in. I guess if you want to spend additional money for boat rides etc it would be ok. To just spend the day boring. Will not return.

Our concession prices for tours and land based activities are among the lowest in the Florida Keys, the absolute lowest when coupled with a printed coupon available online. Not an opinion, a researched fact for similar services. The entrance fee for a State Park speaks for itself. A nominal cost to enter a well maintained park with the comprehensive educational... John Pennekamp Coral Reef is a beautiful state park with wonderful staff in the gift shop and at the tour booking tables. That said, the park failed horribly when it hired snorkel boat operator Mr. Wade. This individual showed a complete lack of professionalism and respect for customers during my snorkel trip. During the trip, Mr. Wade and our other... More

Sorry for your snorkeling experience.. We take pride in our reputation for professionalism and courteous delivery of concession services. Out of character to say the least.. We have zero tolerance this kind of staff demeanor. Your comments have been forwarded to our General Manager for his investigation of this incident. Thank you for taking the time to bring this to... The park rents kayaks for $12 per hour. They provide a map with several different trail options and offer suggestions of which to take based on how much time you want to spend out. You kayak through mangrove paths that are absolutely beautiful! This is one of the highlights of key largo!!

If you want to dive or snorkel then this park might suit your needs. You can rent kayaks and canoes and all the equipment you need for water sports. Small beach and picnic area where you can cook. There is an RV park too. We were looking for some trails to walk and were disappointed with so few. It's $4.50... More

You are rating us TERRIBLE for tours not taken, kayaks not rented, and trails that we don't have and never said we did. More

My boyfriend and his parents went snorkeling through this state park. It was nice, a structured adventure but not up tight by any means. The staff was helpful but left people have their freedom to explore also! Would highly recommend!
