We were recommended this beach, but were not told about the conditions. I would rate this between Avg and V.Good due to our experience. Now we know what to expect, I would probably rate the next visit, if we have the chance of returning, at V.Good. Pros - in town, clear water, good snorkelling, freshwater water to shower off, cafe.... More

We've gone to the beach here a few times and have never had a bad time, but the lack of soft sand on the beach keep me from giving it more than 3 stars. It's a state park so be mindful that you'll have to pay a fee to get in (which is based on the amount of people in... More

We visited the beach area and not the fort. There is plenty of shady trees and picnic tables to have lunch. We packed lunch and got some ice cream at the snack bar. Prices were a bit high in my opinion. The shower area was nice to rinse off after the day and the walk to the parking lot was... More

The beach is rocky, so definitely have water shoes, if you do you will be thankful. Beach staff and concession staff are extremely nice & friendly. We came back a 2nd time during the week because the snorkeling out at the rocks is great, so many tropical fish. The food at the concession is great, the nachos were awesome. Beer... More

Nice, clean park. Beautiful beach with a beautiful view. Only downfall -- the beach is VERY rocky. Be sure to bring water shoes or sandals.

Very nice beach. As far as the fort is concerned I was very disappointed. Entire inside of the fort is painted black over the original bricks. Small area to explore. Fort is kind of hard to find. After h having been to other forts in Fka I was disappointed. ..

People say that you shouldn't go to Key West expecting to find great beaches. This place is an exception. We rented chairs (only $10 for the day- much less than other beaches in Florida) and looked out at the beautiful water all day. We also enjoyed swimming out to the rocks. Great place to spend a day in KW.

The state park is a great place to stop for an afternoon; from the perfect views, the beaches, the old fort on the grounds to the friendly staff, this is a perfect place to visit for an afternoon. There is a nominal fee to get into the park.

The water was clear but you need to have water shoes due to the coral. Great for snorkeling too. The Fort was amazing. We were given a private tour by "DEADEYE" who was working to restore the Fort. There is a concession stand and bathrooms at the beach. Also chairs and umbrellas for rental. Bring water, it's hot out there,... More

You do a self guided tour or hire someone to show you around town. Easy walking distance from town. Interesting place to see. You can get some interesting photos from the inside looking out the small round windows. I can't imagine living there as a soldier. Makes you appreciate what we have now.
