If you want to rent umbrellas and lounge chairs go early and bring $$. We were really glad we did. I also rented snorkeling gear. Since this was my first time snorkeling in the ocean, I had a great time. Some like to have water shoes because the beach is not all soft sand. We had a great day, spent... More

We walked here after visiting the Eco Discovery Center (free) and I believe it was only $2 each. A lot of history and hands on sightseeing. Great photo-ops here

We didn't view the fort, we only went for the beach experience. It wasn't too crowded but the beach is very rocky. Wear sandals into the water. There are nice picnic areas but it was a little tainted by a group who seemed to think their loud music was better than the soothing sounds of nature.

The park is very good for picnics, EXCELLENT for quiet and undisturbed sunsets....in fact maybe the best place on Key West. The beach however is not a good choice for sand and swimming at KW. There are better options. This one is simply TOO rocky - not only were the sand is supposed to be, but even in making an... More

So we come to Key West for a month every February and no it is not a place beach aficionados would flock to but if your idea of a beach is sun, sand, beach chairs and umbrellas for rent along with a great picnic ground with lots of shade. Not to mention water that checks in about 74 degrees that... More

My wife and I had heard about this place and decided to take a walk on a Monday morning. We were pleasantly surprised with what we found after walking through some construction and paying a small admission fee. The fort was kind of neat and had plenty of point of display material to teach us as we walked around the... More

My husband and I spent a little over 2 days in Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. Two of the days, we spent on the beach. We also took some time to tour the Fort and walk around the entire park. First, the beaches are our favorite in Key West. Yes, they are definitely rocky, so if you have water shoes,... More

When in Key West, be sure to stop by Fort Taylor. The beach is great there, not to mention the sunsets are superb. The Fort is well preserved and the staff is very helpful. Allegedly, the old latrine area is 'haunted' - check it out!

One of three forts in Key West. A self-tour visit which reflects the entire history of the fort. A good place to fill-in some time.
