During my recent visit to Florida, Boyfriend's Mom and I thought it would be a great idea to visit the Keys, since neither of us had been. Apparently it had been talked up to her by fellow Floridians about what a pretty drive this is...More

Feel as if you are flying as you descend upon the keys ans all of their natural beauty. The view is complimented by the potential stops and sights along the way. One of the best drives in USA.

Historic bridge! Beautiful view and great exercise. Take your water, there are trash cans along the route

This is a neat experience you don't see every day. This was our first trip to Key West and the drive there was a great part of the experience that we looked forward to and weren't disappointed. The views are amazing, looking forward to going...More

A great way to get through the Keys. Once you hit the highway, you see some of the islands and mangrove trees (always a great sight). The closer to Key West you get, the slower the traffic. But I wouldn't travel down any other way.

If you don't like to sit through traffic, then take a flight. Or swim. The Overseas Highway only has one lane going north and one lane going south. Avoid it all costs on holiday weekends.

I have travelled to Key West close to 20 times-- but this time was "special." The traffic was so bad-- going on Sunday and coming back on Monday it was close to 6 hours driving time in each direction! (and I am cutting out the...More

Granted it was the week of Christmas and New Years, but it was a miserable drive! Traffic was choked down to a crawl and in places a dead stop. I would assume it's better at other times of the year. Four hours to go 28...More

This is an amazing engineering feat and we were amazed thinking about how this road had been built on slivers of land and causeways to the tiny island of Key West. True, traffic can bog down and drivers seem incapable of observing the speed limit...More

Driving down to Key West is a cool adventure. Nice views, cool places to stop such as Pigeon Key. Driving down was great, especially in our rented convertible. The anticipated problem is the traffic coming back. Looking at the northbound traffic it looks awful. From...More

John Pennecamp State Beach is great with lots of options. Check its reviews. There is an entrance fee, but lots of parking, sand for sunbathing, multiple beaches. They have rentals for snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding... More
