Great place to learn about the life and exploits of Ernest Hemmingway. Almost perpetual (and sometimes simultaneous tours. The polydactyl cats have grown rather large and lounge around everywhere. What a wonderful bolt hole, especially the room at the back, accessed by it's own set of stairs. Oh, and the construction of the pool was apparently quite a feat -... More

I visited the Hemingway Home and Museum on Presidents Day. The house is magnificent and I was awed because of my interest in the life of Ernest Hemingway. I purchased four adult tickets and we proceeded to enter the home. We were never offered a tour, so we stepped inside, entering room by room to read the displays in every... More

The displays are top-notch, and you can really get a "feel" for the life of this man. The grounds and buildings are kept nicely. The gift shop personnel are helpful. Of course, the polydactyl cats are so fun to have around. A few of them welcome petting.

This is a great stop on your way around the island. History and Kitties combined in to one stop. Take the guided tour and learn about Ernest Hemingway, his life, his marriages and the history of the house and his famous 6 toed cats. Home of the six-toed cats, Hemingway's home was interesting, informative and a nice break from our bikes. It is about halfway between the Southernmost marker picture op and the fun downtown area and directly across the street from the lighthouse. The guides have too much information to give in a short time, but they are quite entertaining and fun. A... More

My wife made this a must stop in Key West so she could see the 6-toed cats, of which there are many. We had a good visit and enjoyed the tour. The volunteer docents are very knowledgeable and keep you entertained.

Really great tour. This place is very special for any fan of EH. It's hard to imagine he walked those floors and wrote what he did in such a humble dwelling. I very much enjoyed the history and education.

Thank you very much for your excellent 5-star review! As a Pennsylvanian, you may know that Penn State has done tremendous research on the “Hemingway Letters” project. Dr. Sandra Spanier, Professor of English and General Editor of the Hemingway Letters Project, has published two volumes of The Letters of Ernest Hemingway. Everything you ever wanted to know about the Hemingway... More
