We rented the two chairs and an umbrella for $20. Get there early. It will be full by 10:30. Beach is rocky. If you want to go in be prepared to walk over the rocks or wear water shoes. The pier is worth waking out on.

The location was a bit rough. It was rocky and not anything special, but it has water access and a small beach if that's all you're looking for.

Higgs beach is within biking distance of Duval/downtown Key West. Our group came on a Saturday afternoon to sun bathe and enjoy the water. The water at the beach stayed pretty shallow a ways out. I liked that. Only the first few feet of the water area were rocky, after that it was soft and sandy. The sand beach area... More

If you want a sunset (or sunrise) away from the maddening crowd, head to the pier on Higgs Beach. Quiet(er).

Thought it was ok. Expected more sand, beach was small had facilities and was good for families - Smathers beach a bit further had a bit more to do. Had pier you could swim off that was cool.

Not a very big beach but very nice with clean powdered sand, beautiful blue waters and plenty of sunshine. What more could you ask for?

This was a real nice relaxing beach and you are able to get to it from the Hop-On Hop-Off trolly route.

Key West doesn't exactly have beaches like you see in other states, but Higgs is about as close as you get. For 20 dollars, you can rent two lounges and an umbrella for the day. There is a nice sand bar that extends pretty far out, so ocean swimming is nice! No waves though - but you can rent kayaks,... More

We serendiptiously discovered Higgs Beach on our way out of town. We took two beach chairs out of our car, two books and my husband and I spent the afternoon relaxing by the water and reading before we started our drive home.
