We had a great time at this place. Our guide Richard was enthusiastic and knowledgable. Had no idea rum went through so many processes. We had several samples but still managed to find our way home! Highly recommended.
Fantastic time! I dont count myself as a big “rum” person, but this place was delightfully informative in a friendly and fun tasting! I got at least six comparisons and really could distinguish them as the way the bartender, so to speak, described their ingredients...More
First, when visiting/vacationing a area I always like trying local products and the key west first legal rum distillery was on my list of places to go on my visit to key west. I prefer non spiced rum and they have one one I taste...More
The first thing on my mind when I booked our trip to Key West and the Bahamas, was finding some good rum to take back home with me. I did some searching and stumbled upon this place. I read some reviews, and looked at some...More
Tasted just a tiny sip of Bad Bit#(( and it was ok. My husband tasted the unfiltered and it was OK. The tour was a little canned and you need to buy a tasting if you want to taste more than one (they'd probably sell...More

wonderful little refinery. take a tour of the refinery then taste a sample. they do have mixing rum, which is very tasty, but the 105 proof rum is for sipping only. very mellow. reminds me of Mount Gay Very Old Rum.
I tasted a total of four rums here, two light and two dark. I wasn't too impressed but that is my opinion only. I like bold rums (Siesta Key Rum and Lyons Distilling out of St. Michaels, MD). My husband wasn't impressed either.
This is a must do for any rum lovers in the Keys! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their product. I highly recommend doing the sampling where you buy the shot glass. Left with 4 bottles to take home!
After seeing the review on Trip Advisor I was looking forward to visiting the distillery. When we arrived it was a little confusing on the taste testing - it was explained that you could buy a tasting glass for $10 or a flask and then...More
