The town is covered in very well painted murals, mailboxes and birds on buildings. It is a walkable self-guided tour. Stop in the Chamber of Commerce to purchase a guide book and see a little film about how the murals came to be. Some of the murals have hidden items to find. Would be a great family thing for kids. Suggestion: go in cooler weather.

It was a good drive but unfortunately, the town is closed on weekends. It looks like a very quaint town. I parked my car and walked a bit and saw a few of the murals. They were nice.

People at the visitor center were very helpful and friendly. The town is cute and the murals are fun to discover. Be sure and get the mural guide book at the visitor center so you can read about the stories behind each one.

We just happen to be staying in Lake Placid on our way to Sarasota and discover the town is call “The Town of Murals”. The momma bear mural was interesting in the that it is motion sensor with a sound recording. Some of the mural’s colors seemed muted. We actually found the decorative 3D garbage can more interesting.

The Chamber of Commerce building is a most welcoming and helpful stop for any visitor. Located in the heart of town it offers brochures and recommendations for the many things to see in that unique area. And it hosts a large room dedicated to the many murals seen around this city. They are beautifully done and depict many points of history and interest. Inside their building are copies of them as well as a video tour about the murals. Seating is provided in this air-conditioned space. It's a must stop for anyone visiting this town.

We really enjoyed wandering around this lovely little town, using our mural guide-book as our map. What a great way to preserve older buildings, showcase local history, & get tourists to the central business district of this small town! We actually learned a bit about some of the locals, as the murals themselves and the accompanying information in the guide made us curious enough to want to learn more. We even saw a new mural being started! Kudos to the town for this entire project, & to the locals for embracing the wandering pedestrians all over the downtown area. We started at the Chamber of Commerce, where we bought our guidebook, enjoyed a short video presentation, & saw the gallery of paintings from which the murals originated. Very interesting.
