Wow, what great views and a stellar view of the ocean. The lighthouse is closed off to the public but still functioning. You can walk around the grounds without issue and have some blue berry picking when in season.
There are no facilities other than the bushes so go before you go...
The place is really off the beaten path so you should enjoy open spaces and getting to the ends of nowhere; if you do , its the place for you.

Are you looking for a no-cost picturesque stop that will grace your photo album for years to come? Low Point Lighthouse is your stop. No official parking lot, but when you get to the end of Lighthouse Rd, you will see large rocks and then you will get out of the car. You'll walk the remaining distance and it is photo op time. Well worth a stop.

Even though it was raining, we found this working light house a great spot at sunset. We were able to get a few pictures which I hope to post.

This beautiful lighthouse is located in New Waterford. To find it, you need to drive down Kings Road (also known as Highway 28) until you get to New Victoria and soon see the sign for Brown's Road. Take that and when it ends and you see "Brown's Road extension" turn right. You'll soon see Lighthouse Rd. Drive down that gravel road then get out and walk the last 500m in and you'll see a beautiful working light. A real treat!!

We arrived at New Waterford, but we had no idea how to find the lighthouse. We stopped and asked for directions from a local. He was so nice. He told us how to get there and he repeated his directions again, so that we would not be lost.
We had no problems finding this lovely lighthouse. It was still fully functioning, warning nearby ships.
Nearby, were old blocks of wood. It made it more romantic. We still don't know what they were.
We saw where the light keeper lived. It showed the spot where his house used to be. We also saw where the fog horn was placed.
The view over the ocean was amazing! The sunset was brightening the whole region. The ocean was golden and the waves were moving slowly.
Wow! This was the best lighthouse we had seen during our time in Cape Breton. This is truly worthwhile to see.

Love going out to Low Point Lighthouse in the evening to watch the sunset... also to listen to the waves splashing against the rocks... Such a peaceful place ..

This is a beautiful lighthouse that I recommend you make the effort to visit, especially if you enjoy seeing lighthouses. The place has a lot of history.
Located in New Victoria (near New Waterford), Low Point is a historic Canadian lighthouse marking the entrance to Sydney Harbour. Lit in 1832, it is one of the earliest & most important light stations of Nova Scotia... but its end may be near. If a new breakwater wall is not install soon, the tower will likely be swallowed by advancing erosion caused by the unforgiving North Atlantic Ocean.
If you enjoy visiting lighthouses, make the effort to see this one. There is a definite lack of signage to help direct you to its location, but this spot is worth the extra effort to find.

Unfortunately it was a rainy cloudy day, but lighthouse way off the beaten path, was well worth the drive & stop to check out.

We visit this light house almost every time we visit Cape Breton. Great for some pictures and a nice short drive from Sydney. Any light house along the coast is fun to stop by for a photo op.

What a beautiful view. It doesn't matter what time of the day to visit there. We've gone in the morning, midday and just about sunset time. It's just a beautiful, serene, lovely place to go just to look out on the harbour, or just gather your thoughts quietly. If you're in this neck of the woods on Cape Breton Island - stop by. Easy to get to - and hard to leave!
