very cool boat ride

We rented a boat and drove down to Cape Romano. Be careful the water is not very deep in that area. The house are know surrounded by water. Very cool looking.

What I can say about this is that the backstory of the structures is interesting, but the actual site is meh. There is no land left under the structures as it has been all washed away over time. The structures are in pretty sad shape, and will most likely not be around for long. If it's on your list to... More

This place was built as a vacation spot many years ago but the weather has taken a toll on the buildings. Only way to get there is by boat if bring small craft like canoes or kayaks with its very cool to explore you can drift into some buildings.

Going by boat is really a great experience for the entire family. The history of the structure is quite interesting, having been built by an inventor while it was 1/4 mile inland! Now, it is in the bay near the Thousand Islands. Seeing the structure, and realizing people actually live there was fascinating. Even better, there was a large school... More

Was out with sea shell tours and came by. Worth seeing and interesting for a few minutes. Was a good stop during a tour. Not a worthy tour by itself, but worth the time to see while out. The housing structure is unique

Can really only come by boat. Built to live in years ago but abandoned by owner. The fishing near here is quite good.

Seeing Cape Ramano wash into the sea is a sad reminder just how strong Mother Nature is and just how impossible it is to defeat her They are worth the visit and hopefully that an be used to create a wonderful underwater reef for marine life for many years to come.

We did a 3 hour tour with Florida Adventures. Captain Chris Reilly was really informative and we highly recommend. If you want to see the dome houses don't wait too long the sea will reclaim them at some point. We saw lots of dolphins up close, very playful they were jumping the boats wake. This is great tour as limited... More

We went with Wow Adventures and had a great time. The domed house makes for a fun photo op. We had the added bonus of a manatee sighting. The fact that it actually was once a home is interesting, there was a great article in the local Marco magazine about its history.

This is a rather interesting area off the coast of Marco and some of the smaller islands in the gulf of mexico. Need to watch the tides and have a boat capable of travel on the gulf. It's amazing to see these dome houses and to think about the evolution of this and what happens to them going forward.
