I had an amazing time with the Meriscope. I met genuine and passionate people wiling to share with us what they knew about marine mammals but about life too. I learned a lot and this experience convinced me even more that working in the protection of the ocean is primordial. I left with my head full of memories, new knowledge and new projects. Thank you again for this experience and before everything thank you for your kindness and the time we shared

I spent four weeks at Mériscope and it was amazing. Us Interns were able to really work with the team and be immersed in the scientific research. During my stay, I was able to learn a lot about marine mammals and the sea in general. The people were amazing, the landscapes were beautiful and I enjoyed every second there. It was also the first time I ever saw a whale :)
If you are interested in marine biology and want to do an internship, I can only recommend it!!!

The only bad aspect of my internship at the Mériscope was, that I could only stay two weeks. It was a wonderful experience where I learned a lot about the lives of marine mammals, the Saint Lawcrence and so much more. The best thing for me was that the Mériscope showed me that it is actually possible to become a marine biologist and work with whales. It gave me so much hope and strength for my future plans and encouraged me to follow my goals.

I had the chance to experience an 5 weeks internship at Mériscope and it was truly amazing. I learned a lot about our climate, marine mammals (also in depth) and much more. Also the group was fun and it felt very familiar living with them, cooking together, learning and support each other and being on the boat observing minke whales. One of the best decisions to make and had a good impact on how I look at life.

Having a short breakout from my teaching job, I found the marvellous option to work for Mériscope, that gave me an impressive and unforgettable insight into the unknown depth, the life of ocean mammals, nature and wonders. I had an amazing time with emotional moments that will enrich my life forever. I learned, experienced, lived and laughed a lot. The people, the conscientious, precise science work, Mériscope's passion as well as the the down-to-earth way of living and appreciating nature was way more impressive than I had expected and than can be found anywhere else. Mériscope gives everything for the minkies, for preserving the balance and for what's important for nature. They don't want to fill their pockets, they're not interested in personal luxury, they only fight for the rights of these beautiful animals.

My internship with Mériscope was an incredible experience! As a PhD student, it allowed me to get hands-on experience in cetacean research and a real field understanding of minke whales in the wild. The team was nothing but welcoming, and I was able to learn about the diverse backgrounds of the entire team, as well as get to know the way that Mériscope is integrated into the local community. I'm so grateful for everything I was able to experience on the North Shore, and I can't wait to return in the future!

Mériscope gave me the unique opportunity to do a student research project for my master’s program with a great team. I stayed in Portneuf-sur-mer for seven weeks between July and August without one single boring day. During my time, Dany and Jackie have not just been my colleagues, but my friends and family as well. We worked together, we lived together, we cooked and ate together, and in the evenings we spent time at the campfire or watched movies. Every day was full of fun and laughter.
For me, the boat trips were the most amazing experience. When the weather was fine, we spent at least five up to eight hours on the zodiac watching Minke whales, Humpback Whales, Fin whales, Belugas, Harboir porpoises and other species. Dany and Jackie are very talented drivers. They know exactly where to find these animals and how they will behave. However, they keep enough distance and slow down when a whale is seen, because they respect these fascinating animals. Every single boat trip was an amazing and unique adventure.
Both on the boat and at home Dany gave us a lot of information and lectures. He can literally answer every question and I have learned so much about the St. Lawrence, the whale’s physiology and evolution, Canada, Antarctica, everything actually. When the weather was not good enough to go out with the zodiac, we also visited a national park and a museum, went for a swim in a beautiful lake, picked blueberries or spent time at home working on our projects.
For me it was the best experience ever. Dany and Jackie made my dreams come true. They are a great team and I wish them only the best for the future.

This is my 5th time visiting Meriscope and I always LOVE it. The team is very caring, knowledgable and a lot of fun to be with. We went out on the water and saw Minke whales, Finn whales, and Humpback whales. You are in a small group and Dany respects the animals and knows exactly how to approach them so that they are not scared. It's an experience that I can't describe in words, you have to see it.

I stayed at Mériscope for 4 weeks with a group of students and attended with the MérisCool course. I can only say it was one of my best experience. With Dany, Jackie and the whole team you feel more like a family with a lot of relatives, which are visiting because every week there are some friends coming over visiting us. The house has got an incredible view for the sunrise over the sea. Also one of the best things are the campfire evenings with good food good people and Dany telling us stories of his life and his knowledge. When you go there be prepared to come back home with a big knowledge, because I never learned so much within a month than with Mériscope. With MérisCool they gave us so many interesting presentations about the Antarctica, Diving adaptations with marine mammals, Bioacoustics and many more. Now all my friends ask me out all the time about those themes and are jealous ;-). On the zodiac you have a great mix of jokes and fun all the time with many whale sightings and 100% concentration when it gets serious. They are very professional you notice that all the time. With them you are living your best life and know what it means when you love your job. Great people, great whales, great experience.
