Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only sub-tropical zoo in the continental United States.

The unique climate in South Florida allows us to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa, representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country.

Zoo Miami today occupies almost 750 acres, and is home to more than 3,000 animals representing over 500 different species. Of this population, more than 40 species are classified as endangered. The zoo also houses more than 1,000 species of trees, palms and other plants, and over 100 special exhibits showcasing a broad number of species and scientific topics.

We are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) which means we have passed a rigorous application and inspection process and meet or exceed the AZA's standards for animal health and welfare, fundraising, zoo staffing, and involvement in global conservation efforts.

Zoo Miami is proud to be an active leader in many global wildlife and environmental conservation initiatives, and we are currently involved in over 36 projects taking place on six continents.

Hands down the greatest zoo I've ever been too. Soooooo many animals for you to see including: Giraffes, zebras, alligators, hyenas, elephants (both African & Asian), otters, snakes, bats, anteaters, buffalo, lions, chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans. Do be warned that this zoo is HUGE and for most people too much to do on foot. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes... More

I took my daughter to the zoo last month and the weather was perfect. We spent almost seven hours there and still did not see everything. They have added so many new things that now there is more to do than just see the animals. There are many different play areas. My daughter loves the new Everglades one where you... More

The zoo is very large and clean. All walkway are paved. My wife and I spent six hours strolling, looking and reading. We did not quite finish all of the zoo. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water to quench your thirst. You will also want a camera. You are in the sun most of the day. A vendor rents Safari... More

The new everglades attraction is real nice. The boat ride shouldn't be $5. It was a nice little ride but the price is a bit much. A lot of visitors weren't lining up. My youngest son has food allergies so i always pack bananas and little things to keep him going. When we walked inside the entrance I had to... More

One of the most fun zoos I've being, specially if you look for deals like one we found at Groupon for beverages and also the experience to feed the giraffes. Just take your time and hydrate.

Walking around the zoo is a great exercise, the grounds are well maintained. It is comforting to know that the monorail is available when needed. Lots of different animals lurking in their natural habitat. My daughter loves the giraffes and always stay longer in that area. This zoo is a good attraction for out of town guests with little kids.

Had a wonderful day, even interacting with the animals, lovely clean environment, animals well cared for, (better in the wild though), but they do good work with breeding, lots to do and see a great family day, lots of food & snacks along the way, the staff were so helpful and knowledgeable, clean facilities all the way around a fun... We had extra time on our trip, so we went to the zoo. AAA rates it as "a Gem", and we concur. A nice mix of animals, very appealing layout and presentation. A very nice way to spend 3-4 hours, to have some fun, and to learn something.

You really need at least a whole day to try and walk all the zoo. We saw fb line was really long for the bike rental and didn't wait but maybe it would have been a good idea. It's one of the best zoos in terms of the main attractions such as chimps, elephants, tigers, giraffes, etc. The giraffe station... More
