Beautiful grounds for an event but not much to see for visitors. Deering Estate was damaged during Hurricane Andrew 1992 and restored according to the newspaper article on display, maybe restoration is still in progress. During our entire visit caterers were moving tables and chairs with no regard to visitors safety. Parking is limited close to the estate. The visitors... More

Gorgeous place to escape the hustle and bustle of Miami.....this estate is well worth the visit and price of entry....lots of history, gorgeous setting....exquisite architecture....the shell roof on the outside "side-porch" was amazing....the view from the ballroom floor-to-ceiling windows out to the palm trees and water takes you to another place and time....the entire time I was there....I felt like... I've been to the Deering Estate on two seperate occasions...once to the Seafood Festival and the other on a field trip with my son's class. Both times we had a phenomenal time! The venue goes above and beyond! The field trip was informative, educational, and so much fun!! Aside from that the venue is gorgeous! Overlooking the water, the view... More

It's fairly far, fairly expensive, but I suggest you go. They have guided tours (even take you to the prohibition times cellar). Just by the water. Walk, sit and enjoy. There's a board walk. Sit, walk and enjor

What a disappointment and then to find out he was brother to Viscaya Deering. Tell me it ain't so. Save your money, $24 to see palm trees and water. Not good. And pictures aren't allowed inside unless you pay $107. I wouldn't take any pix if it was free. Go to Viscaya. He must have been the older brother that... More

What a glorious architectural masterpiece is this massive estate. Besides the historical significance, the setting is quite impressive.

I would guess that the main attraction of this estate is its view of the water, because most of the buildings are almost rustic. The Mediterranean-style villa is more upscale, but really not all that much except for its size and exterior. inside it is quite plain and is sparsely furnished. There is, however, a substantial collection of colorful Spanish religious... A great place to visit to see how the wealthy lived back in the days before A/C. This estate is right on the water. Great place to take a date or the kids for an afternoon trip into the past.

Late September during the weekday, no one is there.. good time to see, but kayaking is just on the weekends. Great history!
