A well preserved house that was the home for early Florida entrepreneurs trying to scratch a living from the poor farm land along the coast, and ultimately getting defeated by it! A nice glimpse into the struggles of Florida over the decades of exaggerated hopes, troubling finances, and killer storms. Worth a short stroll to learn and reflect.

located inside the National park, this house is on the river front in a beautiful peaceful location. I could have sat on one of the rockers on the front porch all afternoon! The inside of the house contains a lot more history and background to the area. Who knew there was once a whole township located on that site ?... More

This historical restoration is located within the Canaveral National Park. While here you can visit Turtle Mound and 6 private Beach areas. There is a Tourist / Hospitably Center and 2 boat ramps and a fishing pier.

The national park service has done a tremendous job in restoring and maintaining the piece of local history. The whole park is well worth the time, and minimal entrance fee, stop in and enjoy.

We stopped here while on our way to the Indian mounds. The caretaker was very entertaining and explained a lot of the history behind this property. There is a lot to read about here and it was worth taking the time to stop here. It is only a short walk down a tree covered lane to the house.

You can learn a great deal about the area's history, if you're so inclined. And a good place to get out of the heat during the summer. You can watch a short film in the viewing room. Free with your fee to enter the beach area.

Looked around the house and then sat on the rockers on the porch while having our picnic lunch. My wife took photos of the inside and porch which is why none have been posted ! After our snacks we walked down to the jetty and then along to the hammock and palmetto trail where the mosquitoes and any other biting... More

Enjoyed the short walk through the shaded forest (take bug spray!). The history of the house and community are very interesting and the view of the lagoon is lovely!
