After visiting the Eldora State House with the grandson's this past weekend, I kept wondering what took me so long to visit. The house was filled with local history and was ran up by very informed volunteers.

Beautiful restored house filled with history. Video presentation is excellent giving you a rare look at life and the hardships for early settlers. Docent on hand to help you and provide more information. Walk out on the dock and see beautiful mosquito lagoon. Near by are the turtle mounds, another must see in New Smyrna Beach

This was a buggy walk to the home. The home wasn't open to tour, which is why our visit was average. I also wished that they would have restored the home more to its original form. I understand that siding holds up better over the years, however.

The string of pristine beaches and parking lots for miles beyond entry gate includes two worthwhile sites. The Turtle Mound and Eldora are well preserved locations . Eldora is the beautifully restored farm house along the Indian River ( inland side) od the barrier island of the National Seashore that is accessed from New Smyrna Beach. The staff and volunteers... There are certain hours the house is open so check in advance. The house is cute but you only have access to 3 rooms. There all lots of pictures etc. A Park Ranger is on site to answer questions and there is a video worth watching. Its more of an Adult thing kids won't have much interest in the video.... More

The Eldora State House is the only surviving structure of the once-thriving village of Eldora, abandoned over a century ago. We would have missed it were it not for the orientation video shown at the Cape Canaveral National Seashore visitors' center, near Turtle Mound and the New Smyrna Beach entrance to the park. The video made mention of Eldora, and... More

Very interesting historical site, however, I have never found the house open. Bring your bug spray. This is the spot is where the utopian community of Eldora was built.
