Went here today while in the area. This place is a hidden gem. It's a state park. Has glass bottom boats and kayaks to rent. We took the kayaks out. The water is so clear. We saw so many fish and alligator, turtles and birds. We didn't see any monkeys while out today. This place is so neat. Highly recommend!

Florida State Parks has taken over this former amusement park. Gone are the wild bird, bug and animal shows but it is still fun to take the Glass Bottom boat ride up the river a bit. .Not sure where you can rent canoe or kayak but there's lot's of folks using them here. Museum has memorabilia from it's movie making... More

Took my two teenage boys on a kayak trip on this river and had an absolute blast. From the monkeys, to the gators swimming right by you, to the trees and scenery, the whole thing was fantastic and we want to do it again someday.

I would recommend this as a side trip for anyone visiting the villages or Ocala Florida. It's very pretty and natural. The buildings and amenities are dated but still clean and working. It's cool to see where Tarzan, creature from the black lagoon, and other things were filmed.

Incredible place to paddle. Canoe and kayak rentals available. Broke into the last century and used Uber for shuttle and we were able to paddle the entire river. A nice place for a family outing. Steve

Great hiking trails varying different levels as well has great kayaking. You are almost guaranteed to see wildlife (including monkeys) and the water is very refreshing in the summer Florida heat.

Silver Springs River (park) is a historical little gem. Walking trails, boat cruises, kayak rentals, walking trails. This place has a lot to do. Food and snacks available and a little museum in the park. Worth the minimal admission fee.

Took many a trip up and down the Silver Sprigs River (Silver River) to the Head Springs that was once the Silver Springs Attraction now a Florida State Park. If you decide to canoe or kayak there is a mild current to deal with. Launching is easy with county park boat ramps with docks. Unfortunately the Monkeys from the original... More

Rented a canoe and paddled down the Silver Springs River to where it comes up from the underground spring. Enjoyed seeing alligators, turtles, birds, and Rese monkeys. Was very relaxing and enjoyable.
