The castle itself and the other buildings are pretty neat looking, built by owner Howard Solomon, but the art inside the castle all done by Solomon is truly unique. He was a true genius with a great sense of humor. The restaurant on side is excellent too. This is worth the trip out in nowhere.

Visited this month. This castle is something extra ordinary. Made from fouND matrials from trash. Inside are articles the have been made from car parts, wood, metal. Hard to believe this man could make all of these in his lifetime. Really amazing. Eat lunch in his boat in the moat that does not float. It took him 4 years to build... More

Howard Solomon had a true artist's eye. He could look at a metal machine part and see the torso of Cleopatra or the left hand of a carpenter. The castle is filled with his creative and clever sculptures made from found items and discarded wood. A tour of the galleries includes lots of puns that might wear thin after a... More

We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday and were surprised to see how full the parking lot was, after a drive into nowhere--and seeing no other cars on the single lane country road. We purchased the full tour package and waited outside the castle for about 20-30 minutes. Our group size was large enough to fill the front entry and... More

Quite crowded but the people were very kind and even offered to buy my lunch and trusted that I would send them the money when I got back to Canada. My visa wouldn't work on their machines.

We visited we with friends, the tour was unique and shared the artist's eclectic, humorous creativity! Lunch was good and well-priced. Do the extra Art & Air side your! Restrooms could use some updating.

Howard Solomon created this wonderful structure and filled it with hi own whimsical art creations. Guided tours describe the pieces with puns that make you groan and laugh. An additional barn filled with more of his work and collection of cars from 1935 or older opened recently. I highly recommend doing both tours (you can just do the castle). The... More

Friends had told me that this was an interesting place to visit so I drove 1 hr 20mins each way to take house guests who generally, like quirky places. We bought tickets for a tour of the castle and also a tour of the barn showcasing a collection of pre-1935 vehicles and some other art pieces for $18.50 each. You... More

A bit off the beaten path but a must see while in the area. A unique building full of one of a kind treasures. Grounds are nice for an walk through Florida's flora vegetation. Don't miss the Boat in a Moat restaurant. The food is excellent and be sure to try the walnut pie. Enjoy.

We liked the patio seating offered at the "Boat in the Mote" restaurant. Plus GREAT Food!!!!. Like they state >> don't trust your GPS (I google mapped it, did a print out of directions) BRING >>...
