- Lauren FBelfast, United Kingdom8 contributionsGreat new water park at UniversalNice new water park. A TapuTapu (something you wear on your wrist) allows you to join virtual queues and pay for food and drinks without having to carry anything with you and it was a really great addition to our day. These are included with your park ticket. Bring towels with you or you can rent for $7 each. Food was better than we expected! We got the pepperoni flatbreads and would have them again if we were going back. Sarah at the dancing dragons bar is amazing! She made us feel very welcome! We would go back on our next visit! It wasn't too crowded but my advice would be to Tapu into the aqua coaster as soon as you get to the park!Hey there, Lauren! Thank you for your positive review! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us, and I will be sure to let Sarah know you appreciated them. I would recommend riding the Maku Puihi Round Raft Rides on your next visit if you were not able to this time around! - KJTD123Hoddesdon, United Kingdom115 contributionsFANTASTIC WATER PARKFantastic water park. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of things to do. Lazy River a must do. Beach area with sunbeds and plenty of them so no problem getting a bed. Eateries a little expensive but found this in all parks.Hey there, Thank you so much for this 5 star review! I love seeing how much you enjoyed Kopiko Wai Winding River and the wave pool at Waturi Beach, those are some of my park favorites. I can't wait to welcome you back for another adventure, and encourage checking out the Premium Seating to elevate your next visit! -ChrisyWritten March 8, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten March 8, 2024
- Nathan2 contributionsBy far the best water park I’ve been to!Visited in February 2024 from the UK as part of a road trip across the USA. Had watched multiple videos on YouTube of people visiting Volcano Bay before getting there myself and it really didn’t disappoint! This water park was one of my highlights from the whole trip, next to no wait times when I visited, managed to get on Krakatau right at the start of the day and again later on in the day which was amazing. I understand Krakatau can usually have a rather long wait time so was glad to get to go on twice in a day. The rest of the park was amazing also, so well themed and all other slides had no wait time so the day flowed nicely and could go on whichever slide we wanted at whichever time we wanted to go on. The last time I visited Orlando was when Volcano bay was its predecessor, Wet’n’wild, I must say Volcano Bay was an incredible upgrade and worth the wait. Only slight disappointment was that 2 of the drop slides were off for maintenance when I visited so didn’t get the opportunity to go on them. Hopefully I won’t have to wait as long to visit again next time!!Hi Nathan! Thank you so much for leaving this positive review from your most recent visit to Universal Volcano Bay! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your day with us. I highly encourage you to enjoy TeAwa The Fearless River on your next visit - it's always a must-do for me! - JessWales, United Kingdom357 contributionsMy favourite water park! This was our first visit and I was very excited! Getting here was so easy, and it was also great to have our car parked near city walk so that we could go there in the evening! The buses to volcano bay are very frequent and it's only 5 minutes away! This park is absolutely stunning! We loved the tapu tapu system and think it should be implemented everywhere in theme parks as well! It was so easy to use and allowed us more time to relax in the park or to go on other rides and in the rivers. The slides at the top of the volcano are so scary but we loved them. We also loved the coaster, so much fun! I absolutely can't wait to return to this place.Hi Jess! Thank you so much for leaving this positive review from your most recent visit to Universal Volcano Bay! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your day with us. - D S157 contributionsFantastic water parkIf you stay at certain hotels in Universal then you get free shuttle transfers to and from the water park. Good idea to get there early if you want a sun lounger. We didn’t bother as so many rides and things to do. Lockers are expensive. They make the most out of the fact there is no where else to put your stuff. RIP off if you ask me. The park has a wrist band called TapuTapu which links to the Universal app on your smart phone. From the app you can add a credit card and then pay with the TapuTapu for meals, drinks etc. only problem is, it didn’t work. We had to keep going back to the locker to get a credit card every time the kids wanted a drink or something to eat. Staff at the park couldn’t fix the issue. Good idea - if it worked. The TapuTapu can also be used to book a slot for rides but only a maximum of 1 at a time. Some rides have wait times of up to three hours so best to do those early.Hi! We appreciate your review! I'll be sure to share your comments regarding locker pricing and the TapTu Pay system with the proper leadership teams. We look forward to seeing you again soon, and I suggest trying a delicious Waturi Fusion from Koka Poroka Ice Cream Kona on your next visit! - EmilyWritten April 14, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 14, 2024

The water slides are fun. The lazy river is excellent. The wave pool (lake?) is relaxing. There is plenty of seating. And the staff were all professional and helpful. The place is clean and well kept. Really great place.Hello, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience regarding your most recent visit to our park! - Eileen DooherLetterkenny, Ireland31 contributionsFabulous Park for familiesThis park was incredible. Having read a lot of mixed reviews on here, I was uncertain whether I spent my money wisely to buy tickets that included Volcano Bay. As an actual fact, it was my kids favourite place out of all the theme parks (Disney & Universal) and we spent two separate full days here. My children are 5 and 8 so I cannot comment on any of the things relating to the “big” rides with longer queues but for us, it was a truly wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly. The food at Bambu was delicious. We stayed at a Universal hotel, endless summer which allowed 30 mins early entry in and we found this to be extremely beneficial to get near to the front of the volcano area and a good spot to be near the children in the pool. The smaller kids area was really cool, and both kids loved the slides in this part and they also loved the waves near the volcano. I honestly have nothing bad to say about our personal experience & I went with no expectations based on reviews that I had read but as a family and for children around this age, it was fantastic. A lot of people mentioned that food / drinks were expensive but we found them to be the same as any of the other theme parks. We absolutely can’t wait to return on our next holiday.Hey Eileen, Thanks for taking the time to leave this review! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit, as well as that our Team Members provided such excellent service. On your next trip, make sure you stop by one of my favorite attractions, Krakatau Aqua Coaster! - thewildatlantictravellerLetterkenny, Ireland60 contributionsThe Best Water Park in OrlandoThe best water park in Orlando. Volcano Bay was an experience we absolutely loved. We stayed at Universal’s Endless Summer Dockside and we got early entry to the park. We couldn’t get over how clean everywhere was. The paths had little water spouts that cooled the path from the sun so you could walk bare foot. The restroom and lockers were spotless at all times. The lifeguards were very attentive and there was loads of them making sure all the young kids had life jackets on in the pool. The staff were all so friendly and the wait times were not too bad. We visited here several times throughout our vacation. There is sun loungers everywhere and you can rent towels for $7 per towel. You can buy cheap ones from Walmart which isn’t too far in an Uber or bring your own. There is also the freestyle refillable cups here and you can get it reactivated for $12.50 or there about and you can drink over 100 different drinks. You can also bring your own food and drink in as long as it’s not alcohol or in glass containers. The restaurants are very reasonable have great food. We can’t wait to return.Hi there, We appreciate this review! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with us, as well that our Team Members provided excellent, attentive service. - Laura RycroftNorwich, United Kingdom1 contributionLoved it!We visited today (a Thursday) and had psyched ourselves up for a day of queuing and only making it on to one ride. We were pleasantly surprised! After a tiring few days we didn’t arrive until 11am, we got the bus across and entered easily then walked over to the other side of the bay where there were plenty of available sunbeds. Everywhere is clean and tidy and other than the katakanu (which is a four hour wait!?!) had been on every slide with no more than a ten minute wait by 4pm and that’s with stopping for lunch. The tapu tapus work well as you can tap in to a ride then go on to anything that says ride now whilst you wait. The lazy river through the base of the volcano was good fun. Definitely our favourite water park of the holiday!Hi Laura, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with us, as well as that our Virtual Line system helped you make the most of your time with us. - Meander054236312852 contributionsFantastic day at Volcano BayDon't let all the naysayers get you discouraged, this is an awesome waterpark with rides for everyone. The Taputapu system is fantastic. Yes, you can only be in one virtual queue at a time (no different than actually standing in line), but while you are in a virtual queue you can ride unlimited rides that don't have a wait (this doesn't reset your virtual queue). On the day we were there, at least half of the rides didn't have a wait and the ones that did were around 15-20 minutes. We rode all those first and then got in the virtual queue for the water coaster ride, which was a ridiculous 200 minutes long. While waiting for the coaster, we rode lots of rides and took advantage of the lazy rivers. It's heaven waiting in a virtual queue compared to standing in lines all day. Everything seemed to flow really well. All in all, we had a fantastic day and got to do everything we wanted. It just took a bit of planning and strategy up front.Hello! Thank you for your feedback - we appreciate it! I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Universal Volcano Bay and took advantage of how nifty the TapuTapu is! This park definitely has the best rides out of the three water parks and is the most aesthetic of the three parks. This was the second of the three that we visited and was a clear step up after typhoon lagoon. We used the crowds calendar to choose the first day we visited, this worked our well, it was midweek and relatively quiet. Because of this we managed to go on every ride in the park during our day there. The best rides for us were Krakatau water coaster, ko’okiri body plunge and ohno drop slide. We also liked the the lazy rivers. One thing I’d say to avoid is kala and tai uni, these rides felt like they jarred my neck all the way down because of the sharp turning, I wouldn’t go back on them. We found the TapuTapu good, it meant we only had a short queue on the rides and could queue for one of the busier ones while having lunch. Easy to set up and pair with lockers too. We rented towels for a charge but you can take your own if you wish. We would recommend using the lockers at the back of the park, they are much quieter. We did return to the park on a different weekend day, it was much busier then so wasn’t as enjoyable, we only stayed for the morning on our second visit. This is a brilliant water park, the best we’ve been to, make sure you plan well though using crowds calendar and go on a quieter day to enjoy the day to it’s fullest. They also close to the public early on some days to do private events so make sure you check.

My family and I went to Volcano Bay for the first time on Oct 10, 2021. We decided to inquire about the express passes and waited in line to speak with a rep from the ticket sales desk at the entrance of the park. The associate was extremely unhelpful when asked basic questions how the express pass worked at Volcano bay, had a thick Hispanic accent, and was very hard to understand from her speaking through a mask. We ended up purchasing 4 fast passes for $436.61 for 2 adults, a 7 yr old, and 4 yr old. The associate printed the passes with misspelled names and we had to wait several additional minutes for her to fix it, then waited in a long line to actually gain entry into the park. When we finally linked our fingerprints to our actual park tickets (purchased separately), we were issued the digital wrist bands, but after walking away we realized the bands we were issued were all missing the rubber clasps that keeps the band from coming undone. So, I had to walk back with the bands and wait several more minutes to get an employee to help. The employee stated “we are running out of those” and stated that we didn’t need them but I explained I have 2 small children and don’t want to lose the bands, so she took the clasps off other 4 bands (literally they had hundreds visible in bins) and handed them to me like she was doing me a favor (no apology or offer to help). After spending another hour finding lockers, trying to figuring out how the locker system worked (it is complicated and there is 1 attendant for hundreds of people trying to use lockers in a one of 2 locker areas) and spending $40 for 2 small family lockers to store our personal belongings, we made our way to the first attraction we could locate that we could all ride together (a family round raft ride). Upon attempting to engage the attendant at the attraction to ask how the express pass system worked, we were again greeted with an unhelpful and unknowledgeable employee who couldn’t articulate how the express system worked at Volcano bay. Nonetheless, after scanning our bracelets, we waited for a solid 25 mins before finally getting on a round raft ride which lasted maybe 30 secs. Over the course of the next 4 hours, we attempted to navigate a packed park and again waited in long lines for maybe 3 different rides and ended up deciding to salvage the rest of the day and left. I am thoroughly disgusted how Volcano Bay is managed and how poorly trained the staff are there and unhelpful. I feel like I got scammed for paying for the express passes and highly recommend you do your research before considering purchasing them, especially if you have children who cannot ride most of the rides due to height requirements and not wanting to wait in extremely long lines (there is no separate line for express passes like there is at the regular Universal Studios dry parks).

We had a try relaxing day at volcano bay and had booked a cabana for the friday during our stay, the weather took a turn for the worse so I called up on the wednesday to see if we could cancel and was told no way, you lose the money. I explained it was my sisters birthday and the weather was going to be really bad and she made a big deal of speaking to everyone so we could transfer to the following day (thursday). Turns out, we heard staff saying they were closing the park next day (friday) due to the weather so she must have already known that when she was talking to me on the phone the day prior! They closed the park on the day we'd originally booked so definitely felt totally played. Anyway, that aside, we enjoyed having the cabana which was between the wave beach and lazy river and suited us perfectly. Well looked after and great service. Would recommend a cabana though wouldn't book it in advance again. There were plenty of towels which were replenished and the fruit basket was very nice.

Took forever to get into the park and get tickets. It’s only open from 10-5, and was almost noon by the time we finally got through security, on/off the bus and through ticketing.
Tapu tapu is good in theory but wait times are still long and your only options are the wave pool and lazy river while you wait. I think the kids got to do three rides in total all day aside from a few trips down the river. Not a lot of concession stands, restaurant wait time was over an hour and they ran out of pretzels at the stands leaving a choice of corn dogs or churros. We travel to Florida yearly and do universal studios and islands of adventure however this park fails in comparison. Hard to find two lounge chairs together, and cabanas sell out quickly.
Paid to rent our towels and they only had one for me at ticketing so I had to wait in line yet again at the concierge station after finally getting in.
Not their most smoothly run park.

Probably the nicest thing I can say about this water park is that it’s beautifully decorated, aesthetically pleasing, and very clean. Besides that, this water park is a terrible waste of money. The “tapu” bracelets are a great idea in theory, but we had to go back to the concierge on 4 different occasions since ours were not working properly, not allowing us to check into rides, not linking with our photo pass, saying that we already went on rides, and not linking with our express pass. Speaking of express pass… well worth it at both Universal and Islands of Adventure but a giant waste of money at Volcano Bay. It doesn’t allow you to skip ahead of the line at all, which is obviously what you think you’re paying for when you pay another $100 per person (or more depending on the day of the week) on top of already buying tickets that we’re $70 per person (or more depending on the day of the week). Nope, having an express pass here only allows you to get into the line and wait, instead of getting a virtual time on your “tapu” to come back to the ride later.. and then still have to wait in line. Mind you, these lines are absolutely crazy at 200 or more minutes for most rides! Pretty much, unless you want to just chill in the lazy river or in the pool, you’ll be spending most of your day wasting your time burning up and waiting in irritatingly long lines with hundreds of other hot and irritated people who are also complaining about how the express passes are a giant waste of money, too. We would definitely not come here again, and cannot even imagine how much our kids would have hated it if they would have came with us this trip! Oh ya, and of course they don’t care if you’re unhappy about the way these things work, nobody seems to know how to help you sort things out and correct the issues, and refunds are completely out of the question.

Very disappointed with a couple of staff members, I hate to say it but I feel I was discriminated and disrespected. I visited this water park on Thursday Aug 6, 2020
I tried to buy some food for my kids at Whakawaiwai Eats while we waited for the Krakatau Aqua Coaster ride at around 11:00am.
Since We had our bags with our face masks in a locker at the other side of the park, I used a face covering that covered from the top of my nose down to my neck.
The greeter of this eatery rudely told me I needed a face mask to purchase food. I didn’t like his attitude so I asked to speak with his supervisor. Before trying to contact a supervisor he quickly went to advise the cashiers not to take my order. When the supervisor arrived I explained the signs say “face coverings” are required. Nowhere does it say specifically the word “face mask”
To be fair, the supervisor was polite as I was to all but I was disappointed that he basically just backed up the rude greeter knowing I was right. I even pointed out other people walking by with face coverings very similar to mine and he still said it would not be allowed.
Later in the day I went to Dancing Dragons boat bar by the lockers, to my surprise I saw a couple of the bar tenders wearing a very similar style face covering like mine, then I noticed life guards wearing very similar style face covers that go down to your neck.
So that’s the reason why I decided to write this review, I don’t think a big company like they are should ever treat any customer that way specially a very well behaved and respectful customer as my family and I.
Because of this treatment I will not be their customer anymore and I will share my experience.

This park is really pretty but there are many flaws in the concept. 1st The Tapu wristbands from being resued so many times don't stay on well. One of my kiddos lost theirs in the lazy river and the only way to get one is to go all the way back to entrance. Total pain. 2. We went once in the afternoon and it was so crowded that you could barely get around. Not to mention wait times for the slides. We decided to come back with early entry and pay for premium seating. Premium seating is expensive but we felt it would be worth it to lock our stuff at our seats and be able to bypass food lines by ordering to our seats. However The seats are not in a premium location. We quickly realized that we would have had a nicer view by arriving early and getting a seat right at the waters edge. Our premium seat was literally in a bush with no view. Also the shade on the premium seats doesn't move so you won't get shade. The sun was beating in on us. Yet the non premium seats had lots of shade and umbrellas. FYI if you plan to arrive for early entry plan to be there before that time because it's a single line to enter for early entry and it's long.
If your booking a premium vacation with fast passes and extra benefits go to Disney where you're treated accordingly.

Day started really well. Got on loads of rides quickly and they were great. Kids loved them. Sarasota is phenomenal and the fast ‘lazy’ river is amazing. But by about midday ride times are becoming silly and because you can only ‘queue’ one ride at a time it means even the basic rides have long queues. Beach was fun but became very crowded, presumably with people waiting for rides. By about 1pm we’d had enough, really wouldn’t want to spend a whole day here unless it was super quiet.
Park itself is clean but locker rooms become overcrowded. Signage is terrible.

Kids had fun, but long lines and almost no one wearing mask. If you are planning to pay for premium seating to get out of the sun don’t waste your money. Unless you are one of the first 5 people to get in and pick a spot under the trees, come 1pm-330pm you are sitting in direct sun with no protection. There is no way to move the very expensive shelter to get any shade. You are basically told tough luck. The random free chairs all have umbrellas attached so you can have shade whenever you want it and it doesn’t cost an extra 100$+. Very disappointed and will NEVER make this mistake again😡

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback regarding your experience. Our Guest's safety is our top priority, and I will be sure to share your feedback with the proper Teams to look into internally.
The Premium Seating options at Universal’s Volcano Bay are a vacation enhancement intended to allow you the option for additional privacy and the convenience of reserved seating; I am sorry to see you did not feel this was the case. I have documented your feedback and if you would like to provide additional feedback, please give us a call at 407-224-4233 or send us an email at GuestServices@universalorlando.com. Please mention your review as well as your TripAdvisor username, if you choose to contact us. I hope you will give us another opportunity in the near future.

Volcano Bay has strict ride restrictions which were not made clear to us before entering the park. I have one hand and VB refer to this as a ‘limb difference’ which excludes me from ALL rides except the rapids, lazy river, walk in the volcano and pool (these were highlighted to us by Guest Services). It only became apparent that I could not enjoy the park to its full potential when my partner and I walked to the entrance of a raft ride. The attendant stopped us and said he would need his manager to speak to us “because...” as he gesticulated towards my arm and a sign which says guests with ‘limb differences’ will need to see an attendant - he was deliberately evasive of the issue and awaited his manager to deal with us when he could have simply advised us to attend Guest Services. The manager, Michaela, arrived and said that I could not use any raft rides at the park as they require two hands to hold. I told her that that had not been made clear to us at any point before then despite having had interactions with colleagues at entry including a finger scan. This has honestly never happened to me and I have never been excluded from water rides at Disney or at Center Parcs back in the UK (both of which have raft rides) so it came as a huge shock and I became very upset.
Michaela took us to Guest Services where the staff member’s attitude was very much ‘you can’t ride any rides so like it or lump it and leave to our main parks where you can ride’ he also said the rules were manufacturer’s and not the park’s alone. We were offered to ‘see what they could do’ regarding our tickets but they are three park explorers so not easy to refund and I explained that my partner still wanted to enjoy the rides even if I couldn’t. I walked away as I was still upset and my partner dealt with the situation. He was offered a gift card as compensation which we accepted but I do not feel that it is satisfactory given the clear exclusivity of the park and total lack of customer care as there was a rider’s guide which we should have been issued with upon arrival and were not. For such a modern park, I’m mystified that the creators would be satisfied with a selection of rides totally inaccessible to a whole group of guests. I am 27 years old and have never been made to feel as excluded as I was today. A total shame as the park itself is lovely.

Can a waterproof phone case be worn underneath my swim shirt when I go on rides?
For footwear, will Keens be allowed on rides?
I bought a small portable lock box (size of a cracker jack box) to secure my stuff to pool chair when Im on rides. Anyone know if that can be used at the park?

Hey there,
Loose articles - including phones - and footwear aren't permitted on any of our body slides, and are encouraged to be left at the lockers available throughout the parks or with a non-rider. Water shoes can be brought on tube slides, as long as there are no buckles or metal on the shoe. Additionally, lock boxes and locks cannot be brought into our parks. Please know, all items are subject to the inspection and approval of our Security Team upon entering our property. I encourage reaching out to Guest Services at 407-224-4233 for additional information as you plan your visit!
