We drove to Ft. Pickens on Veterans Day--free admission to the National Park! The old fort is fascinating for history buffs, and there's ample information available to learn the roles it's played through the last 150+ years. The park end of the island is very quiet, with beautiful dunes adorned with sea oats and brush. The drifts of white sand... More

Not as crowded as a lot of beaches. I love coming here. Enjoyable and pleasant people and places to eat are great.

We visited during the week in October, so the beaches were almost empty. The sand is brilliantly white, the views beautiful and the water very inviting. Miles of beach allows you to pick your location.

Always worth the trip out to relax on the beach. Beautiful white sand, crystal clear blue-green waters, and even found some really nice shells this time around.

You can't go wrong with a visit to this area. Sugar sand white beaches that sometimes resemble snow, crystal clear water and plenty of room to stretch out - in fact you may even end up on the beach alone. So many photo opportunities with a variety of birds to photograph. We also visited the area towns and Ft. Pickens.... More

this is a great Civil War fort that was held by Union Forces throughout the Civil War. Great place to visit at end of Santa Rosa Island

Weekend trip to celebrate our 50th anniversary(yes, I did say 50) and once again the gulf island national seashore did not disappoint. Water was beautiful, the beaches are sugar white sand and The blue Angels were playing in the beautiful sky above us. THis is like a tropical island without leaving the states. Take some snorkeling gear and swim with... More

These beaches are fantastic and scenic and undeveloped. They aren't too crowded and parking is free. Our favorite beaches in the area.
