We have been to the lighthouse before but never at Christmas. It was beautiful with every room decorated and the lawn also. It was about 60° and it was perfect climbing weather for me. The whole lighthouse is self guided with restrooms in the keepers...More

Yes, it was not easy to climb the steep stairs to the very top of the existing lighthouse. But the incredible view of Big Lagoon State Park and the surrounding area of Pensacola was worth the effort. The world is wonderful!!!

Beautiful old still in service lighthouse, it has a Museum and gift shop. You can climb the 177 stairs to the top and walk around to view the Gulf coast and the Naval base.

We love lighthouses! So far have climbed most in Florida and North Carolina. As part of our history, lighthouses help tell the stories of heroism, disaster, and self defense. This lighthouse is attached to the museum in which the keepers lived. There is also a...More

Almost across the street from the Naval Aviation Museum, this can be easily done in the same visit. The lighthouse offers terrific views of Florida's Emerald Coast, along with the Navy airfield. The beaches here are to die for!

It's only $7 to go into the museum and take the 177 stair climb to the top of the working lighthouse. The view is simply breathtaking. Absolutely worth the 7 bucks!!

The Lighthouse and Museum is a must do in Pensacola. You must climb 177 steps to the top but it is well worth it. Dave, our docent, was fantastic, providing so much information about the lighthouse. Don't miss this opportunity!

Unfortunately children cannot be carried up; it's a Coast Guard regulation and a safety issue. Like you stated, what most guests do is take turns climbing; one or more in your party stays with the child/children while the... More
