The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis....

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis. We are not open on a daily basis like a large zoo, although we do offer two-hour tours, reserved in advance. Tours are held in the afternoon, usually on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm. Email as far in advance as possible to make reservations. Children under 5 are free. We may be able to schedule a tour on a different day, if we know far enough in advance.

Guests will be given a guided tour of the 7-acre animal compound by an experienced wildlife professional. An introduction to each species, basic biology, and how the species arrived at our sanctuary will be discussed in detail. Visitors will be allowed a close-up view of the exotic animals. Guests will be able to venture closer to adult African lions than they ever imagined. Also on the tour will be our amazing white tigers, several orange tigers, a very rare golden tabby tiger, cougars, servals, lynxes, leopards, hyenas, coati mundis, and a host of wolves ranging in color from black to white. We also have a large bird collection, which includes conures, macaws, Amazon parrots, lovebirds, and even parakeets, cockatoos, cockatiels, doves, quail and finches. We feed all of the big cats on the tour on most days, and set up a tiger bubblebath for one pair of tigers. We do not allow photography at this compound, however, we do offer a fabulous photo CD at the end of the tour for a small donation. You may photograph our beautiful peacocks, lovebirds and conures, which are outside of the compound near the guest waiting area. Thank you!

The animals are right up close and absolutely awesome. I think my mouth was open in surprise for most of the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and seemed to know each animal intimately (habits and personalities). This was one of the finest tours I've ever participated in. All employees are volunteers, working only for the love of the animals.... More

Tammy was an excellent guide. This sanctuary gives animals that would be euthanized a home for life. The 2 hour two hour tour was informative. We learned about the animals as well as their stories about how they came to the sanctuary. WE learned more about the animals than during a zoo tour. You need to wear comfortable shoes. It... More

We don't know how many wildlife preserves there are in the world, but this one has to be the best or at least right up at the top. You can read about the description in the website, but we've got to tell you that this is one of the most informative and totally entertaining two hours of your life. So... More

I love animals and was very pleased with our visit to this reserve. It is obvious early on that the volunteers who work here love their job and are very knowledgeable about the animals. The day we toured there was an exceptionally large group but the reserve emailed us afterwards offering us an opportunity to tour again at no cost,... More

Amazing. Staff knowledgeable, dedicated. Invested in what they do and experience of tour. It was a large group day we went and they said anyone who wanted to do it again for free could because group was so large. I still felt we were able to see everything. 30$ very reasonable as well

Tammy led a group of 30 people through a series of personal profiles and wild-life explanations of dozens of big cats and other exotic animals, explaining provenance, life history, genetic differences, and habits and habitats. She was very knowledgable and the tour was well organized (and we were on a feeding tour which had the added benefit of seeing some... More

This tour is superb! Visiting the Wild Reserve is better than going to the zoo. Takes about one and a half or so hours and you come within five feet of "sanctuary" carnivores such as lions, tigers, hyenas, and a bear that have been given a second chance to live. The tour guide introduced us to each animal by providing... More

Very beautiful animals! The staff was very friendly and informational (provided water and wet towels due to the heat). We were able to see how the animals get fed daily. I wish we were able to take pictures, however, the safety of the animals is important. There is an opportunity for individuals to purchase a DVD with the photos of... More
