Flagler College's historic campus is located just four miles from the Atlantic Ocean in the heart of St. Augustine, Fla., the “nation’s oldest city.”The college is named for Henry Morrison Flagler, a Gilded Age industrialist, railroad pioneer and partner with John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil. In 1888, Flagler built the Hotel Ponce de Leon, his first in a series of luxury resorts along Florida’s east coast. A masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture and the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the United States is now known as Ponce de Leon Hall. This National Historic Landmark serves as the centerpiece for the Flagler College. The grand hotel launched the careers of young architects John Carrere and Thomas Hastings who are noted most for the New York Public Library and the House and Senate Office Buildings adjacent to the Capitol in Washington, D.C.The Edison Electric Company powered the building with steam heat and 4,000 electric lights, making the Ponce one of the nation’s first electrified buildings. Louis Comfort Tiffany is credited with the building’s interior design including the stained glass and mosaics. Murals were completed by George Willoughby Maynard and Virgilio Tojetti. The hotel was gifted to Flagler College when the institution was founded in 1968. Since then, the college has spent more than $43 million dollars restoring the historic campus and adding new buildings.

One of the most beautiful & ornate buildings around. Take the tour and visit the student dining facility. Yes, that is real Gold in the ceilings and walls. Really from a more elegant time. Do some homework before visiting. Look up Flagler. He build many of the local churches. The railroad south. Partner with J.D. Rockefeller of Standard Oil fame.

Knowledgable students lead the tours. Both inside and outside the college are remarkable works of art in themselves and the history is even better. Don't miss this tour.

This is one of the most beautiful college campuses that I have ever seen. The Florida style architecture really makes the campus stand out from the surrounding neighborhood. At least take the time to drive around the campus and appreciate the beauty.

This turned out to be a great rainy day stop for us. This is not an ordinary college since it used to be a grand hotel. Our guide was an entertaining young student. Don't miss the dining room!

Stunning architecture and history of this building by Henry Flagler. Tours inside are available on limited times/hours and must be arranged in advance.

This is a beautiful place - we would have liked to see more of it then we were able to as the timing of the tours didn't work in our schedule.

The college only offers two tours a day...10 or 2pm. The tours was worth the effort to schedule this into our trip.

A beautiful tour taking you back to the turn of the century to the Golden age where who's who would stay and visit. A great tour and the opportunity to seeThe largest collection of Tiffany glass anywhere in the world.
