Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is...

Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are not just any church. We are Florida's first Presbyterian congregation, established in 1824. CNN has named us one of the eight religious wonders in the United States. The present sanctuary was given by Henry Morrison Flagler and dedicated in 1890 as a memorial to his daughter Jenny Louise Benedict who died from complications from childbirth. Mr. Flagler, his first wife, Mary, daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum at Memorial. The church is open for visitors Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a tour of the church by one of our trained docents during the week and then return on Sunday to join us in worship. Our visitors come from across the state, the nation, and the world.

We were on the trolley and decided to hop off to take a look inside. It was beautiful and definitely worth the stop. They have a number of events you can attend such as organ concerts. Note: we tried to visit the other two churches on the block but they were all locked.

This church built by Henry Flagler in memory of his daughter is built much like many Catholic churches in Europe and elsewhere. No expense was spared for this memorial. There is a organ with 5000 pipes which we heard in concert for their Weds. noon free concerts during Lent. Well worth an hour or so to see. Tours are available.

We were on a tram tour and at the driver's recommendation, got off to visit. Well worth the stop, the architecture is amazing, and combined with the Flagler family history, very interesting. Can view the interior in less than an hour and ten get back on the tram. Would recommend one of the tram tours as a good way to... More

The church was built by Henry Flagler as a memorial to his late daughter and her baby -- a sad story, but a beautiful monument to them. He was later buried along side them and his first wife in a mausoleum there. The church is stunning, inside and out. My family is Presbyterian and we are used to much simpler... More

My eyes did not know where to look. The craftsmanship that went into building this church is beyond description! And this was all done in one year!! Reminded me of the beautiful churches in Italy. This church is the burial place for Flagler and his family. Remember to look up and behold the beautiful ceiling and light fixtures. Lucky are... More

This church is awesome. The outside is amazing and only matched by the interior. They often give organ concerts which should be a must if you are here at the right time.

If you have time make sure you visit this beautiful church. It has a 5000 pipe organ and countless stain glass windows! It is well worth the visit!

Greatest site in the city. Lou the docent and his wife were so very informative on the church and the Flagler history. Nice place to just sit and enjoy the surroundings. Will be going back for a holiday mass and to here the organ.

Visit this gorgeous church and learn a little of its history. It is free and there is usually a docent available to answer questions.
