Description:

Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is...

Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are not just any church. We are Florida's first Presbyterian congregation, established in 1824. CNN has named us one of the eight religious wonders in the United States. The present sanctuary was given by Henry Morrison Flagler and dedicated in 1890 as a memorial to his daughter Jenny Louise Benedict who died from complications from childbirth. Mr. Flagler, his first wife, Mary, daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum at Memorial. The church is open for visitors Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a tour of the church by one of our trained docents during the week and then return on Sunday to join us in worship. Our visitors come from across the state, the nation, and the world.

The day we visited we could not go in because they were having a wedding. The outside was beautiful and it would have been nice to see the inside, but we did see the bride.

This church is beautiful on the interior and exterior. We happened to park in the lot across the street from it and decided to have a look inside. It is gorgeous. If you are used to churches in Europe it will be a bit of a let down. If you enjoy churches over in Europe as well as churches everywhere... More

Could have spent longer in here but wanted to catch the next tram tour. Not religious but loved the story behind the church. Worth a visit.

The Memrial Presbyterian Church is simply sunning both inside and outside. We were welcomed by a member of the congregation who was very knowledgeable and gave us a thorough run down on the church's history. Fortunately for me, photography is allowed, indeed encouraged. It turned out that our "Guide" has actually written a book on the history so, of course,... More

This is a beautiful Church both inside and outside. The marble and stained glass are lovely. Henry Flagler and some of his family are laid to rest in the church. Very nice stop while in St. Augustine

It is a beautiful day in Saint Augustine Florida. Just out walking around looking at the sites again and breathing in all the fresh clean ocean breeze. This is a beautiful church built by Henry Flagler Bank of the late 1880s. Mr. Flagler, his wife, daughter, and granddaughter are buried inside this church. The church is not always open for... More

I arrived too late for an organized tour but the docent let me look around. I was enthralled by the Apostle's Creed windows that circle the sanctuary. It is a beautiful church that memorializes Mr. Flagler's daughter.

Mr. Flagler had an eye for the finer things in life and this church is but one of the many things you'll see in St Augustine with his name connected. The stain glass, ceiling hung cross chandeliers, alter and everything else makes this a must see.

The name says it all. Henry Flagler had the church built as a memorial to his daughter, Jenny. He spared no expense in making this beautiful sanctuary a fitting place to remember her as well as to practice the true purpose for which a church exists. It is a place of worship first and foremost. The stained glass windows beautifully... More

My friend and I were finally able to tour the inside of this church just a few days ago and I got to say that it was a great experience! Beautiful wooden interior with a lot of unique light fixtures and glass works. Come on in and check it out yourself when you have the chance!
