The most difficult part of Bowman’s Beach is finding the access trail back to the parking lot. Maybe a flag pole would be a good idea for a marker. Bowman’s beach was our first experience with a Sanibel Island beach and its famous shells. The...More

Every beach on Sanibel & Captiva is beautiful and they are each different in their own way -- differing variety of shells and accessibility, but they're all great. This one didn't disappoint.

Excellent shells to be found, though it can be crowded. Make sure to pack enough cash to pay for your time in advance. Clean showers and bathrooms.

You been to Bowman's Beach several times and each time it's a treat. It is never crowded and the showing is second to none. There is a fee for parking in my cereal resident, but it's nominal. Take plenty of sunscreen and a bag for...More

This beach has outdoor dressing area, clean bathrooms and shower/body/swim suit shower rinses. Upon arrival in the parking area use cash (no change provided) or MC/Visa card to pay for $3/hourly parking. The walk from the parking lot to the beach area is longer than...More

One of the best beaches for collecting shells. You have to prepay parking though, so it's difficult to estimate how long you will be there. Bathrooms were clean.

Had a good time, plenty of shells to find, clean bathrooms near parking, private dressing areas, reasonable hike to the beach, reasonable parking expense for the island and plenty of parking. Went to the beach by the lighthouse and found a lot of "live" shells....More

Great beach for shelling. Had a nice shelter to relax in from sun and rain. No food, vending machine for pop. Good parking, close to beach.

Hi Guys, I'm visiting Sanibel end May for 1 week with husband and my 13 year old twins. Last week I went into melt down mode after reading really really bad reviews on no see-um bites! I almost cancelled the week! I would really appreciate some positive sound advice, I understand deet products and sun tan lotion don't work together, dusk and dawn try to avoid, if there is a breeze it keeps them away although I would still go out prepared! No risks for me!! I'm confused over what repellent to use, what after bite cream/oral medicine to use and if it's safe for me to sunbath on the beach?! My head is a fuzz! Please help. As much info as possible would be so appreciated. Thanks guys

We were just there and no see-ums. It was windy but beautiful warm sunny day. Early morning, late afternoon is when they seem to be around but we had NO problem at all. Don't let this be a trip disruption. Any bug spray... More

Hi, I'm concerned about the no see-iums biting me when sunbathing on the beach, how likely is this during the hours of 10-3? So many bad reviews on them, I don't want it to ruin my holiday. Recommendations please??
