The Sanibel Causeway is the ONLY way (at least for cars, motorcycles, bicycles) to get onto Sanibel and Captiva Islands. It was established in 1963 (I guess prior to that, the only way on to the islands was by ferry), and involves one very tall...More

Cost 6.00$ to get on the island and nothing to leave. Great roads and with SUN PASS you dont even have to slow down. DRive right tru the toll. Automatic deduction. A must for FLA.

The causeway is the only way to Sanibel/Captive Islands. The toll is $6 for a car. It is worth the price just for the views alone. It goes quite high,so be prepared if you have issues with high bridges. I thought that it was great....More

We pulled over on the causeway on way back from Sanibel Island but didn't get to stay long due to fast approaching storms. Area would have been a nice place to picnic and had many tables. Parking was free as mentioned but no beach area....More

Great place to hang out. $6 cash at the toll booth. You can park on the beach, so you don't have to carry all your stuff too far, AND its free to park. The weekends are insane. A lot of people, so get there early....More

A high causeway which lends a beautiful view of Sanibel / Marco Island as you make your entrance, for only a $6 toll - yikes. But hey if it's vacation, why not?

I'm not sure how you would miss it since you can't go over the bridge without paying. There were two lines, one for the Sun Pass and the other for paying cash.

For cars going to Sanibel is $6 and its cash only, unless you have a SunPass. If for any reason you don't have the money just stop and let the attendant know and they will bill you; it will cost you a few extra bucks.
