Great concert hall with major safety issues - no center aisles

We saw the musical Chicago at the Van Wezel on a Saturday night. Arrived early as we weren't sure what traffic would be like, but it turned out to be light. There were virtually no signs to guide us into the regular parking lot so we ended up in the overflow lot, which was fine as it was a short... More

Spacious parking area, restaurant on premises, good acoustic, spacious layout , we saw Chicago which was excellent, just as on Broadway, it was fantastic. One major concern is that there is no center aisles, in an emergency it would be extremely difficult to evacuate in a timely manner, please someone check into this!

My best friend is still treating me to all sorts of attractions and dinners, for last Christmas, believe it or not....I'm not complaining, this is like a Christmas that never ends, and I love it!!!! I had never heard of this group, but they were absolutely fun, entertaining and the talent was amazing! So many songs brought back so many... More

Unique performing arts center that hosts concerts, plays, dance troupes and solo performers. Many, many well known artists. Seats sell out quickly for the most popular events of the winter season. Lovely location aside Sarasota Bay. Generous parking. Lunch and dinner available onsite before some performances.

Attended a one man concert at this venue. Sound and sight lines are great. No center aisle makes for a difficult time getting to your seat, not sure how safe this is. There is a restaurant and a bar area for dining prior to a performance. The seats are comfortable and it appeared that a wide variety of performers. It... More

Van Wezel is a great venue for theater, dancing, concerts, one-man shows, etc. It is also a wonderful venue for the Sarasota ballet, which performs there occasionally. It's right on Sarasota bay and it has ample parking. It also has refreshments before, during and after the performances. The seating is wonderful. You may be far away in the last row,... More

The building still can be seen from the roadways and bridges and has been the fixture of the Sarasota landscape for as long as I can remember, and I've been going back and fourth for about 30 years. The season schedule varies as the operators keep trying to determine just who is the paying audience. And some years are more... More

They offer a lot of nice performances and shows. The sound is quite good on the first floor where I always get tickets as close to the stage as possible. However the design of the seating is terrible since there are no aisle breaks along a the long rows. The rows are extremely long with seats. It's a fire hazard... More

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall brings impressive groups of performers to its stage. The schedule is filled with solo performers, Broadway musicals, ballets, comedians, out of town and out of country symphony orchestras as well as hosting the Sarasota musical groups and a Town Hall Series. There is also an excellent "out reach" program which enriches local educational programs.... More

There is no way to fully appreciate this architectural landmark and cultural treasure from its front on Tamiami Trail. Certainly the purple and lavender colors grab your attention, but it is only from an airplane perspective or boat deck view from the Sarasota Bay that you realize the building is shaped like a huge seashell. My wife and I were... More
