Great place to spend the day

Plenty of free parking. The mansion is fantastic and worth viewing. The Ringling museum is right here too. Spend at least 3 - 4 hours and enjoy.

We spent a half day here and enjoyed the variety of displays. While the circus museum was ho-hum, the mansion and garden offered great insight into the founders and their lives. Of particular note were the extravagant pieces of uncomfortable-appearing furniture and magnificent waterfront terrace. The art museum was very impressive, although the Asian display didn't keep our attention. We... More

This place is truly a fun place to visit, but not if you go with any young children. Hard to miss the irony of it all: a place that celebrates circus that is not kid friendly. So, my recommendation is to visit this place if you have no young kids, but if you do, skip it.

This is truly the best place I went to in Sarasota, Florida, when I was on vacation. It is a must see. The model circus displays in the Ringling Museum were amazing. I can't believe that it took Mr. Tibbels his whole life to make so many of these miniature models and settings What an artist! I also enjoyed the... More

The Ringling features a variety of different exhibits relating to circus history, an art museum and theater, beautiful gardens and the beautiful Ca'D'Zan mansion. My favorite was the huge model circus setup in the Tibbals Learning Center, which portrays the amazing process of unloading, setting up, and performing in a traveling circus with hundreds of animals and wagons. You can... More

We're from Wisconsin - where we are fortunate to have the Ringling Brother summer quarters in Baraboo, Wi. So this was a must see while we were there. It was a great compliment to what we already knew. The rail car was a real treat to see and the human cannon truck was unique. Appreciated getting the history and background... More

My teen son and I visited here in July. We were rushed for time due to him being required somewhere else until late afternoon. I loved the house and the history, the grounds, and the museums- we had to rush through!( Although the staff didn't make us feel that way. ) My son enjoyed it as well. There were no... More

Though opulent, this is a beautiful place to visit. Has both a mansion with rose and sculpted gardens as well as museums, something for everyone, except maybe small children who may not appreciate as much.

Do make a visit if you like art. The collection is so much more than expected for a small museum. Rubens paintings worth the admission plus hundreds of medieval to baroque paintings by lesser known artists. Nice Asian art collection too, some on loan from other museums. Also good for the non-art lover in inclement weather. A large circus museum,... More
