Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

Took my daughter who is an animal lover - we had a great day! Nice to see how they care for their animals. Great opportunity to get up close and interact (feeding).

Lions and other cats are housed in tiny quarters allowed outside in shifts. They constantly pace in the closed cofines of their cages.Circus atmosphere as the MC proclaims the benevolence of the organization while forcing the giant cats to sit on tiny perches. Very sad...More

We love taking the little kids to Big Cats. We all learn so much. The work they do there is amazing. I am an older person who turns into a kid when I am there. What a gift this place is for Sarasota.

Wonderful local attraction highlighting care of rescued big cats and exotic animals. Not just for the kiddies (although they do have a petting zoo pony rides and opportunities to feed the bears and big cats!). On the day we went we got to see an...More

Just loved our visit. Very informative. A great place to see large cats, bears, monkeys, etc. Stresses the point that these animals are not pets. Consider donating to them to help in their care.

We highly recommend Big Cat Habitat. We brought our two-year-old niece with us and our 16-year-old son. I would have to say I would skip the presentation with the cats only because for younger children it seems a bit boring and over their head. My...More

I was looking forward to visiting the Big Cat Habitat and Sanctuary, because it said sanctuary. To me that's looking out for animals not keeping them in small enclosures with part of the roof covered in the scorching Florida heat. Not only big cats but...More

I wrote a true and correct submission to Trip adviser, recently. As noted in the text, were my sources of legal information concerning "Big Cat Habitat". Even though we went to see the Big Cats, we were disappointed. The time was spent on a monkey and some dogs. 1/2 the show was a commentary meant to extract money from a captive audience. Within the sources given, animal rights organizations and years of Government intervention attempts of violations done by Big Cat are a lost cause. My Question to Trip Advisor.....Is it a problem, not to print my submission, under the guise of review? I did my homework and provided the information , so you can do yours. If it is not your policy to tell the truth, then I will only continue to provide nicer things. I am guessing. this will not be printed either.
