My wife and I stayed in a condo on Siesta Key, which was about 3-4 miles up the road from turtle beach. Our first night there we went to Siesta Beach, at dinner, then drove to turtle beach. There as a large parking lot right along side the beach, and when we walked out onto the beach, we were blown away! The sand looks and feels much different than the sand on Siesta beach. It looks more like salt and pepper, but has a nice feel to it while walking on it. The sand is more coarse. The beach is not as wide as Siesta beach, but we loved this beach more than Siesta, and we loved Siesta. We decided the rest of the week we would keep our chairs and umbrella in our car and just drive 5 mins down the road and go to turtle beach. So that is what we did. We felt like it was not as crowded, bc there are no stores (other than one restaurant “Turtles”) and it is a dead end. So there is not a lot of traffic/people here. Having always visited the panhandle of Florida, we had never seen the sun set directly over the water. This is the perfect place, maybe the best place we have ever watched the sunset! Each evening about an hour before it sets, couples, friends begin descending upon the beach with their chairs, drinks, and just sit to watch the beautiful display that is about to take place! If you are staying in the area, we would highly recommend visiting this beach. The only thing I wish was different is wishing the restrooms were closer to the beach. They are not a long ways off, however, it is a good walk from the beach to the restrooms. They also have showers to rinse off in the parking lot here. It is also the last stop for the SKB trolley. So ride the trolley down, stay and while, watch the sun set, and go back and sleep well!

The sand was not as powdery soft as Siesta Key, but not a big deal for us. The water was calmer than Siesta Key Beach that day. Gorgeous place to be on the earth.
