Only state park I know of with WILD MONKEYS

This is an odd little place recommended by family nearby. Apparently used to be a theme park, but has been taken over by the state park system. It's a little run-down and sad, but... read more

Silver Springs has been renovated to the point that it's more sustainable. We see more people coming to enjoy the natural beauty.

For nature buffs and photographers it is a special place. I have lived in Marion County for 36 years and have never tired of visiting this park. The State of Florida has done much to bring Silver Springs back to its more natural state; and I see an increase in bird populations and rookeries. Your daily admission also allows you... More

Nice pathways to walk throughout; new boardwalk loop is lovely. This park is clean and quiet but with few activities of interest. For the average visitor this park can be "done" in a few hours; tour the stunning, crystal clear river on the famous glass bottom boats, walk the new loop, and stop for an ice cream cone on your... Honestly the best part about Silver Springs State Park is the kayaking. The water is clear blue throughout so you can see everything going on beneath you! Lots of wildlife (birds, turtles, fish, monkeys, and gators) to view from the kayak. You cannot get out and swim so this would not be something you want to do in the middle... More

Take the glass bottom tour.. You will not regret it. You can also walk around the park. The entrance fee is 2$ per person. Souvenir shop and food shop and right next to that is the ice cream shop. Surrounded by beautiful trees as well as the moss hanging from the trees are a wonderful view.

Don't get me wrong, this place is beautiful and a grest PARK; not the attraction it used to be. We didn't realize it was no longer run as an attraction. The car museum was gone as well as many other things they had. They do have the glass bottom boats, but that's about it. They also have a restaurant, but... More

They Finally have a new board walk up on the old Ross Island side of the original park. its a very nice shady walk in the woods over the water with a couple of pavilions to hang out under and look out over the crystal clear water to view all fish and kayakers passing by !!!

Our most current visit started with a couple of hours easy, slow paddle (extra charge for kayak rentals) through the various spring heads including the main spring at 30 feet depth. Water is crystal clear throughout the entire area. After our paddle, we walked into the park area where we grabbed a reasonable lunch and walked the grounds. Beautiful plants... More

I haven't been on the glass bottom boat rides since the state took over the park, but they are still amazing! They offer a half-hour tour and a 1-1/2 hour boat tour. Took the half-hour tour and saw several large alligators, lots of turtles, lots of birds and the gorgeous springs. Walked the park and was again amazed with the... More

This is an odd little place recommended by family nearby. Apparently used to be a theme park, but has been taken over by the state park system. It's a little run-down and sad, but a pleasant place to visit and remarkably un-crowded. We got a groupon deal, for $45 got the glass-bottom boat tour, kayak(s) rental, and lunch for two!... More
