We were going to Tampa and took the longer route so we could go over the bridge. It is quite the spectacle and nerve racking for your guests who are visiting from the north. Highly recommend. $1.50 needed to cross.

Tampa, being surrounded by water, bridges are an important part of our traveling daily life. There are several bridges in the Tampa Bay area but the largest and most spectacular is the Skyway Bridge! The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a spectacular site both day and...More

So awesome to cruise below this bridge. Sunshine Bridge above and the water below. Love cruising from Tampa.

It’s a toll road so be prepared for that. The bridge is beautiful both day and night. During the day the view from the bridge of Tampa Bay and at night of the “sails” that support the bride (lighted) is spectacular. The previous bridge was...More

Everyone should travel over the Skyway Bridge once in there life. Lovely span and plenty to look at while going by. The cruise ships from the Port of Tampa barely scrape by underneath the bridge. That's another experience for the memory book.

As bridges go, this is one of the cooler ones... There is a toll, so that 15 minutes of cool comes at a price. Worth seeing if you're going that way, but probably not worth going just to see the bridge.

The sunshine Skyway Bridge is a amazing bridge to travel over, the view from it is breathtaking. We were lucky enough to experience a boat passing under-neath.

Going over this bridge is one of those things that makes you appreciate the abilities of mankind. The engineering in this huge bridge is beyond my comprehension. And...as a real bonus, the view driving over the bridge is a fantastic revelation of the Tampa Bay...More

Aside from the obvious function of getting you over the Bay, the side benefit of an awesome view is pure bonus. The fishing piers and parking areas allow for a nice break as well.

No worries - just go the opposite way - go north on I-275 from St Pete beach, merge on to I-4 east in Tampa and then I-75 south. Then you can drive down toward Sarasota and connect west over toward it wherever you'd like... More
