An interesting review of local history

I enjoyed attending and becoming a member of this Museum. All exhibitions are well organized and explained. I love the very old photos of Tampa, Ibor and River.

Very interesting place to spend a couple hours. I had no idea how cigars were made back in the day. The displays and movies taught me quite a bit. Good movie on Ybor City. The displays and movies on the harbor and shipping were very good. I had seen much of the same type displays on the real early Florida... More

We are lunch at Columbia Cafe. It was reasonabley priced, service was great and the food delicious. After lunch we took a boat tour called Tampa Bay History Cruise. For 90 minutes we tour the coast of Tampa hearing about the rich history of this wonderful town. This was our first time to Tampa. We will be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here - lots of interesting exhibits to see covering many different aspects of the city's history. Beautiful building, well laid out exhibits, helpful & charming staff & a gorgeous gift shop. Also a lovely looking bar/bistro type establishment within the building, though we didn't use it.

There are 3 floors of exhibits, with the first floor featuring the Seminoles and Miccosukee peoples and their relationship with European explorers and American expansion....culminating with the 3 Seminole Wars and the Trail of Tears. The first floor also featured an exhibit of the cigar industry in Tampa . The exhibit that interested me the most on the second floor... More

Lots to do for all ages in a beautifully laid out building. Located downtown and on the riverwalk makes it a key place to start a day of discovery. When I was there, a school bus of young children arrived and were fully engaged & having a great time.

Attended an event here (Rehearsal Dinner). Fabulous location. Great catering by Columbia Cafe. Fun to be able to see the exhibits for a while at the beginning of the party. Lovely outside deck and spacious inside. Very attractive bar area. Great venue for any event.

I have been to the history center many times and always enjoy it. They have fun permanent displays that tell the interesting story of Florida's history, and also bring in rotating exhibits on the top floor. Good place for both kids and adults. You find something new to explore every time you visit. Also, they have a perfect location on... More

This is a very interesting place if you don't know about the early settlers in Florida. The first floor is all about the American Indians we captured and kicked out of their own land. Very sad movie shown about them fighting back but eventually being outnumbered and sent to Arkansas. Second floor shows how the land became used for cattle... More
