We intended to spend three days in the Tampa area and got a site at Hillsborough for a Thursday night. Park is very quiet with large lots. Very natural setting. We looked for the river but even on the river loop we didn't see it until after we left the park. Washroom facilities are old and showers have a common... More

We've lived near this park for years and never visited until recently when we ended up with a few free hours on a spectacularly beautiful Florida afternoon and wanted to take our dog for a hike. I can't believe we've missed these nature trails all these years - but we won't miss out in them any longer. The river views... More

Turtles, alligators, birds everywhere. Canoe or kayak is the way to go. Bring a camera. Many miles to view on the river.

Had been wanting to stop by this big park and today was the day. We didn't spend a day, just an hour but plan to return. Nice trails, bridges, great bathrooms, there is a pool, restaurant. Rentals for fun bike type things and kayaks. Wonderful family park. Great place to take photos. Good alligator warnings and info about respecting them.... More

Located in eastern Hillsborough County, this park is easy to ride to either from I-4 or east on Fowler Avenue to State Road 301. The entry fee is $6 dollars and well worth the experience. The loop road is only one way and you are committed if you decide to explore the park. One of two Florida “rapids” is located... More

The park and Fort Foster are really worth the visit. Families, young couples and anyone with a sense of adventure and history should visit.

We just spent 4 nights the park with a pretty large group of friends. This review is for site 39 & 40 and the entire park. The sites are VERY shaded but there is not a lot of privacy between these sites but since we were with friends that dint bother us. These sites are close to the kayak launch... More

Beautiful park. Admission fee was $6 per vehicle which is very reasonable. The walk on the rapids trail was a lot of fun. The water was clear and we saw two gators sunning themselves on the shore, 2 Anhingas (one was swimming underwater), Tri-colored Heron, plenty of fish and a turtle swimming along the bottom of the river. We came... More

The park is nice. Rentals are pricey. These 2 sites are full sun- it was uncomfortable how much sun we got. However, it is right across from bathrooms and showers and washer and dryers. Staff is friendly, if you book this site you will be right next to a park volunteer who cleans and monitors noise. If your noisy at... More
