Camped over a long weekend (no school on Friday) in March. Arrived Thursday afternoon and campground was virtually empty. Got a nice spot, but the other two camper neighbors vacated on Friday morning, so we ended up moving to what I would say is the best site in Campground #1 (site 50). Great view of the lake, easy slope down... More

This review covers RV camping and day hiking at Fort Mountain State Park. I originally wanted to keep this place a secret. I truly think that this State Park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited (that is saying a lot - according to TripAdvisor’s own travel map calculation I have visited almost 20% of the... Fort Mountain is one of our favorite places to camp. Especially when taking the kids in the family (nieces & nephews). They offer a wide variety of activities such as paddle boats, mini golf, and horse back riding. They have a beautiful man-made small lake with "beach area". (No motorized boats of any kind allowed in lake. We camp this... More

This park is perfect. There are great walking trails from one mile to 8, easy to challenging. The mountain bike trails are first rate and well maintained. The views and scenery are breathtaking. A great place to camp or spend the day.

Fort Mountain is an OK place to drive thru and/or walk thru. Take your time and enjoy the mountain scenery if that is your thing. Not much else to do there. It can be as fun as you make it.

This weekend was our 3rd trip to Fort Mountain state park. We have camped there previously and that was very nice. The park is on a ridge so be prepared for a cool, windy day. There's a good variety of hiking and biking trails with various distances and difficulties. We hiked the Gahuti loop and really enjoyed it. My only... More

We were in North Georgia the week of Christmas of 2015 and it was a really rainy time for us to be in a cabin. We were able to sneak out a few times and hike in the park. All of the trails are well marked and there is ample parking.

The kids had a 3 day weekend and the hubby surprised us with a weekend stay at Fort Mtn. It was foggy to start, but the fog burned off and we had a great hike and got some beautiful pictures. We stayed in cabin #2 and it was wonderful. There was a waterfall you could hear from behind the cabin.... More
