Opened in 1995 as a collaboration among Columbus State University, Columbus Water Works, and the City of Columbus, Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center provides exhibits, natural history displays, nature trails, and also offers formal and informal educational programs about the ecology and natural history of the region. Inside the center, visitors can view a variety of snakes, both venomous and non-venomous, turtles, tortoises, fish, alligators, invertebrates, and lots more. Visitors can take a walk down our trails to catch a glimpse of native wildlife, view our wetlands and ponds, or to explore our educational and fun Discovery Trail.

Get up close with animals

Oxbow is a great place to take kids or go yourself to learn about local animals and have a up close experience. My kids love it and we even had my son's birthday party there.

Oxbow is a great place to take kids or go yourself to learn about local animals and have a up close experience. My kids love it and we even had my son's birthday party there.

Want to see some local fauna and flora? You must visit Oxbow Meadows. They have live alligators, gopher tortoises, fish, snakes, a look into a working beehive, and much more. Check their calendar for fun events for kids.

This is an awesome interactive attraction to completely "nerd out". Hands on family fun to learn without realizing it! Check out the website ahead of time to see the events!

They have alligators, snakes, turtles, etc.The kids loved their time there and there isn't a fee to enter but they take donations.

Going thru the trail and everything was amazing seeing the crew play with the turtles and snakes was also amazing I loved every bit of it

I was there when a show was put on outside with a variety of different animals. Very good, There was no shade and got very hot. V

If you have been to Oxbow years ago and haven't been since, you need to go back. The new building is amazing and so is the canopy walk where you walk in the air on a suspended bridge from treetop to treetop. You can view the Eagle and her nest as she lives on the edge of the Chattahoochee River.... More

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center is all about nature and making it educational. Great place for kids and field trips. Associated with Columbus State University.

Oxbow Meadows is a very laid-back environmental center. We sent our children through the homeschool science classes, and they loved it! They also do little activities at times on the weekend. The center is not that large, but the children enjoy it. Outside are picnic tables and bike riding/walking trails. A great way to spend an afternoon while learning about... More
