Overview
More
We are a fully operational vineyard and winery, growing vines on 4.5 acres of North Georgia countryside. We are the "baby" of the county vineyards, but we take great pride in our work, and are proud to set our own pace to viticulture. Our staff and owner got into this trade with a true desire to make great wine and provide a fun and inviting atmosphere for our guests. These things we do with great pride! History Established in 2007. Cavender Creek Vineyards and Winery got its start with the foresight of Raymond and Donna Castleberry, as well as with the volunteer help of family and friends, in 2007. In the summer of 2015, Raymond and Donna finally called for a second "retirement", and sold Cavender Creek Vineyards to our new proprietor, Claire Livingston. The first vines planted at Cavender were two red grape varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon (a vitis vinifera species) and Norton/Cynthiana (a vitis aestivalis species), with our first harvest being in the summer of 2009. The third plot (Petit Manseng), a small white grape, was planted in 2008 and premiered its first vintage in the Spring of 2011. Here at Cavender we endeavor to produce hand-crafted wines that reflect the personal attention to detail and "pampering", from planting to bottling.

Stopped by for a glass of wine and check out the place after is was taken over by new owners. Not much has changed except the staff. The did offer "wine slushies", which I thought were a little cheesy. Didn't have the same feel to...More

This winery was on the Wine Highway Weekend tour, which unexpectedly coincided with our vacation to a cottage in Ellijay. We ventured over to this area and visited Cavender Creek. We had our 21 month old, chocolate lab with us, and she was invited into...More

At 26F it was unseasonably cold and we just weren't prepared but once we got the fire going we were so cosy and loved our stay in such an historic log cabin. It has been comfortably and tastefully furnished. The kitchen is very basic but...More

Beautiful location and great wine...what more could you ask for. Walk around the grounds, taste the wines and have a seat out on the back patio to enjoy some live music. We will be making a second stop by on our trip to pick up...More

We went as much for the blue grass music as the wine. My friend doesn't drink at all, and still felt welcomed. The group was set up inside, so we stayed inside for most of the two hours. When they took a break we moved...More

My wife and I visited several vineyards in Dahlonega and we loved this one! Such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The wine was good and the beer was ice cold! There was live music on the deck that was very good. We loved the beautiful dogs...More

Unexpected day trip to N. GA. with family. Drive worth it once we settled into deck with tastings of wine, fine music, cordial staff and even the welcome waft of true country cow patties. Will definitely look into staying in cabin next planned visit!

I'm actually surprised by the amount of five star reviews on this place. Yes, the staff was phenomenally nice and the dogs were cute, but that doesn't make up for the rest. The tasting facility was a small, unimpressive building that smelled like vomit when...More

I am a little biased on this one. Hubby and I go every Friday. I has a very comfortable "ya'll come back now" feel with out being hillbilly. It also does not have the pretentiousness that one of the wineries had with us. There are...More
