Beautiful outdoor experience
Mar. 2021
The falls are beautiful. The stairs are intimidating. Please don't take your dogs on them. I hate to think much the metal steps will hurt their feet! Traffic was really bad around the visitor center and parking is limited at This is a real problem if you need a bathroom. There is some parking at the top and one bathroom for men and one for women so expect a line. Bring your own toilet paper.

Best Thing to do in Blue Ridge!
May 2021 • Couples
Absolutely gorgeous! Second time here and we were just as amazed as last time. If you want to hike there are easy to expert trails. If you want to walk, there are parking lots that have walkways to get to the falls. If you want to drive, there are two separate parking lots to park at all the way at the top. Unbelievable scenery and extremely dog friendly!

Family friendly with lots of parking options! Beautiful park with stunning waterfalls and trails. Make sure that you have sunscreen and bug spray depending on the time of the year.

Even though it was a bit chilly tent camping when I was there it was worth it. Great hiking and amazing scenery!

Anniversary trip

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly. The room didn’t get cleaned each day but you could get what supplies at the desk. The view in our room was great! We enjoyed some of the trails. It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room. The coffee pods did not make good coffee. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Great Views!
Apr. 2021
Stopped here on a whim while we were in Dawsonville, and I was awestruck by the views! I did a little bit of hiking, and the trails seemed very nice, and well signed. The view from the bottom of the falls is really cool, but it needs to be seen from the top. When I walked out on the boardwalk over the falls, I had my breath taken away. The beauty of the North Georgia Mountains, and the sheer size of the falls below you are simply mesmerizing. This is a MUST SEE for Nature lovers traveling through this area. I’m really hoping to get back and explore more of this park soon!

Tips during closed trail
Apr. 2021
Hiking up the falls was tricky this week due to the closed trail - check the state park website to see if the trail is still closed, here is the notice: "Due to storm damage The Middle Bridge and the Lower Stairs to the first Platform after the bridge are closed at this time. You can access the Waterfall by the Spring Trail to the Westridge Trail to the upper half of the stairs. The lower stairs to the last platform before the bridge are open as well for you to enjoy."
We stopped at the visitor center and they provided a map and they showed me on the map where the trail is closed. I hope they fix it soon!! But it is still worth going even with the closed trail. We ended up hiking all over the place but if I could do it again, I would first drive to the top of the falls and check that out, then hike down the stairs to the spring trail and then cut over to the reflection pool. There you can hike back up toward the falls along the river up to the closed trail. This is a great area to end the hike because the creek is gorgeous, there are wonderful views of the falls, and there are places to relax, rocks to sit on, and back below the reflection pool there are picnic tables and calm places to wade in the creek and cool off. There were bathrooms at the top of the falls but I did not find bathrooms or drinking water at the reflection pool area. If you end up near the reflection pool then maybe one adult would move the car there and skip the hike down, or hike back up to the top to get the car? Most trails are steep so they take longer than you might think from looking at the map.

Beautiful falls and walkways, dog friendly
Feb. 2021
Beautiful state park, worth the parking. The steps to the top are fun, but not for physically-challenged people. Dog friendly and cottages there and an nice hotel with a gorgeous scenic view on a balcony area. The park's gift shop is nice too.

Beautiful Falls, Beautiful Scenery
Sep. 2020
Absolutely loved visiting and exploring Amicalola Falls State Park in the Blue Ridge area. The falls and the views are spectacular, and the park's grounds are well maintained. Several items to note...Like many outdoor attractions, try to get there early to beat the masses. Parking up on the main drives to the Falls can get cramped. Also, the trails and boardwalks are in decent shape, but they are steep in some spots and, when wet, a little slippery. A lot of folks want to take shots at the top of the Falls, but the better scenery (IMO) is at the "bottom" - the main boardwalk a little more than half way down. Enjoy.
