We enjoyed the homestead, Swamp island drive and the hike to the tower, but the sunset cruise was our favorite. Very knowledgeable guide, lovely sunset, lots of wildlife but especially alligators. Do take bug spray and go in the spring before the mosquitoes get too crazy

A must see if you are in the area. Baby gators were neat and the boardwalk across the swamp in neat.

Decided to visit the park at the last minute and so glad we did. Had a national park pass so entered the refuge for free. Immediately bought tickets for our family of 4 for the boat tour and waited for a very short time. Our guide, Jen, was fantastic! She apparently started volunteering at the park when she was only... Okefenokee is a wildlife refuge. It is intimidating to see the alligators so intimately, but at the same time, to be so close to nature is a gift. The lilies, the butterflies, the wild birds and vegetations are so beautiful together. The cypress roots and the black water are so magical. It is like a fairyland. Absolutely stunning. Canoeing through... More

My husband and I visited the park on April 6th. When we arrived at the entrance to the building where you purchase your tickets, I saw a very large alligator just a few feet from the sidewalk. I told my husband that it must have been a fake alligator because the park would never allow people and alligators to get... More

Arrived late on the day, but fortunately had time for the swamp island drive. Saw several alligators and walked the boardwalk to the owls roost tower. Nice trip

We spent most of the day in the refuge and could have done more. The information center person was most helpful in getting us started right there on the nearby trails where the first bird was a barred owl! Wildlife Drive is a must with the frequent stops suggested. We found the red-cockaded woodpecker where it was supposed to be... More

I spent a few hours at the refuge last week. Checked out the visitor's center and signed up for a 90 minute pontoon boat tour. The tour was very enjoyable. There were only 7 passengers, and our guide was friendly and knowledgable. We saw dozens of alligators, as well as many birds. Renting a canoe or kayak would have been... More

We were on quick trip and only had time to do a drive through and boat trip. Would love to go back! Saw lots of wildlife and birds. Staff were all friendly and helpful

Interesting! Boat tours down the swamp, alligators, wildlife all around. Camping, picnic areas, nice trading post, gift shop. Fishing & boat rental, walking trails with boardwalks over the swamp. Beautiful area.
