The Historic Wharf is located on Jekyll Island, this is the perfect location to see the boats traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway going to all parts of the world. This is the best location on Jekyll Island to watch the Tropical Sunset. This is also the home of Jekyll Island Boat Tours and the Wharf Restaurant. Come to the Wharf for lunch or dinner and take one of the many boat tours of the beautiful Georgia Coast where you will see much of our wildlife such as our Dolphins.

It's nice to see, but it's not like a huge boardwalk. You might need like 5 minutes and that's it. We wasn't bothered by bugs or birds. It did not smell like fish, which was good.

Georgia's barrier islands are seriously hidden gems. Most of these islands are maintained by the people who live there and they have strict rules to keep them beautiful and preserved! Jekyll Island is one of those places. You'll see actual natural beach habitat including maritime forest and formed sand dunes. There are critters everywhere to experience and witness. The beaches... Sit down, enjoy the warmth and admire the scenery. Beautiful spot on Jekyll island. During the day you can catch dolphin tour boats from the wharf. Day or Evening it is a nice place to hang out and enjoy some tranquility. At sunset it is the place to be...quite a view!

Beautiful area of Jekyll Island. Hopefully the restaurant will reopen soon. Great place to sit, relax, and watch sunset. Recommend visiting when you are on the island.

You can't go out there without some kind of insect repellent, as we got eaten alive ( only kidding ) by the infamous ' No See A ' bug....a week later, I still have blisters from getting bitten....

The no-see-ums or Sand Gnats come out when the sunshine is intense or strong and at wind speeds of 3.5 mph or more Sand Gnats stop flying so staying in the open is the best deterrent when the wind is calm. The very best repellent is No Natz and is sold on the Wharf at Jekyll Island Boat Tours, the... More

There wasn't really much going on when we were there because the restaurant was closed due to hurricane damage, but my goodness what a great spot to catch a sunset. The view over the marsh is just spectacular. There will be lots of bugs, so make sure you come prepared with bug spray.

When I visited the restaurants and sections of the pier were being remodeled for opening in Spring of 2017. Great views of the marsh and of the Jekyll Island Club area. Chairs to sit in and view the wildlife and the calm of the river too.

Very sad to report that the lattitude and rah bar restaurant are closed. Wharf is still a beautiful place to see sunsets, watch the water and some boats. Historic district a lovely place to visit, highly recommended. Hope wharf restaurants reopen soon.

Stopped off to admire the hotel, so had a walk to the wharf. It's pretty, but it wad covered in bird and bird poop everywhere. It' was a nice place to enjoy the sunset. The restaurants were t open, but it probably would be nice to eat here.

We took the most beautiful Sunset pictures there but maybe because of Hurricane Matthew there were bugs biting you. We normally do not encounter as many bugs as we did this trip. I should have known when my husband said the fish were jumping out of the water that they were feeding on bugs. There were 8 to 10 of... More
