I came back for the second time to see the lighting of the tree in the historical district and see all the houses and the hotel decorated for Christmas. It is really a site to see how these people lived for just a couple of months out of the year. The square was where the Christmas festival was taking place... More

The historic district is chock full of American history. During our first visit, we took the tram ride, and have also taken the official tour of the JI Club hotel. There is a first-rate museum, which has lots of kiosks and information on the history of the industrialists who built the Club. As a result, we've read numerous books about... More

The historic district is absolutely fascinating. The more I see, the more I learn. The more I learn, the more I love this place. The old cottages and homes have been very well kept and the old spanish moss-laden oaks are a sight to behold. The entire area carries such a rich history.....its a must see for history lovers! Plus,... More

This happened to be the annual tree lighting ceremony which was incorporated into a great family festival for children. A musical holiday themed rock concert entertained the crowd while parents brought the kids to bounce equipment, bungee games, arts and crafts, food booths, and even a make-your-own s'mores opportunity. The giant Spanish moss-laden oak trees were trimmed with an abundance... More

Since we were in the area, why not tour the island. The first stop was the island welcome center were we picked up a map of the island and got some suggestions. On the island we toured the small but informant museum. Next a walking tour around the exterior of the houses. Some of the homes are used for various... More

This designation is a must if you are visiting Jekyll. As you walk the grounds you will feel as if you are mr.rockafeller himself.

We enjoyed the horse drawn carriage tour of the historic district and the driver/guide was very informative about the history of the area.

Traveling from a previous night in Darien, GA, I planed to tour around St Simon's Island. For some reason, I missed the turnoff and wound up on Jekyll Island. I am so glad I did. My first stop was at the Jekyll Island Museum where I boarded a 90-minute motorized tram tour with driver/guide Amanda. This cost $17 and was... More

The historic district is a must see! You can take a tour and see the whole district and tour some of the homes, see the original "red bug", visit the Turtle Center ( for rescued turtles), visit the original hotel that is still open, and much more! There is a museum in the district, book store, sweet shops, restaurants, and... More
